Hi guys I had the stock battery die on me today in a race.

Im guessing I can replace the battery with this? I dont need to run a regulator if Im running it in my M11x and I run electric correct?

This one is a lot cheaper, but then I guess postage costs to the USA becomes an issue :

I would 100% recommend that battery over the ProTek as it is half the price and there's no way postage to the US should cost any more than about $5-$7, at a guess. It's the exact same battery I use and lasts forever and I've never had a problem with it and I'm lazy and often leave it connected when the radio is not in use.

IMHO better to save your money than just throw it around needlessly.

But I dont need any regulator right? Can this be charged through the port or do I need to use my charger to charge it?

aaron125 01-05-2012 12:43 AM

Nope, no regulator needed (don't think I've ever heard of one being needed or used inside a tx) and definitely not a good idea to charge through the port. Also, no possible way to connect balance lead if you charge through the port and should be balance charged 100% of the time you charge it.

no regulator needed... use your lipo balance charger for it...

Thank you! I was really mad when the battery that was fully charged didnt even last 20 minutes tonight. :flaming:

You won't be disappointed if you grab either of the 2 LiPo packs recently mentioned - I get a minimum 15-17hrs+ from mine with the LCD backlight setting on 20 seconds.

I have the same battery. Bough it from dinnball on ebay, which is RC mart on ebay actually. Shipping wasn't a lot if I remember. The lipo is very good. I have it now for 1.5 years in my transmitter and it still lasts a very long time.

You need to balance charge a lipo. This is not possible with the built in charger so you need to charge it with your charger.

Throttle brown-out using RX-451R?

Details:

Touring car
SRG-BLS servo (I would assume power hungry?)
17.5 blinky
double motor fan

Am experiencing what seems to be throttle only (not steering) brown-outs. It lasts only a couple of seconds, typically after I flip the car (but it did happen once on throttle without flipping.
Changed motor & sensor wire and replaced double fan with single fan...still happened.
Checked with Tx setup and the B Fail-safe was set a 5V (can be as low as 3,5V). I usually have this set this way for Nitro, and accidentally kept it for electric racing.

Could this be the cause. New power hungry servo, momentarily dropping the battery voltage below 5V, thus stopping the car?

Is the B fail safe applicable to electric. I'm a bit confused since there is an ESC involved..

Appreciate any opinions?
Thx

Does anyone here know if the Tekin RS Pro line takes any advantage of the quicker response time of the Airtronics/Sawana SSR receivers, or is it just the steering servos that respond faster?

i'm not sure if BEC voltage would drop even if your servo is power hungry...what's the spec of your ESC BEC?

you can also disable the B fail safe just to make sure...

Not sure, but it's a Tekin RS Pro....I would assume 6V?
Ever heard of a brown-out? My understanding is that a power hungry system could momentarily reduce the input voltage significantly enough such that the Rx will re-boot...
In this case, the Tx was set go to full brake if the input voltage ever dropped to 5V...

etivac13 01-05-2012 11:53 PM

i have experienced brownouts but only in nitro since the power of both the rx and the servos come directly from the battery whose voltage goes down when servo draws to much current from it... but have not experienced it in electric...the esc should give stable/fix voltage out..in your case 6V/3A...

try one of these

http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/D...ProdID=SPM1600

or try setting you B-failsafe to 3.5V...but i don't think your esc bec would drop to this...

I use the 2nd product you linked in most of my Tekin RS / Savox / Airtronics setups. The motor cogged at low speeds on some of them, and the capacitor resolved that issue. Most Spektrum radio users would suffer from complete brown-outs and glitching, but this is the only ill effect I've experienced with Airtronics receivers and this setup.

How do I charge this thing? lol I see it has 2 plugs, one for balancing and one for connecting it, but what the hell do I use to charge it?
