I stopped racing for the summer, and now I'm gearing up for fall. I've been looking for a new m-11x to buy and can't seem to locate any... Has airtronics discontinued them?

yeah like over a year ago and replaced it with the M12.
you should be able to find plenty of used and some still new. I've seen them in the last several months on here for sale new in box still

Any M11x owners out there have intermittent power switch problems? I recently discovered that my transmitter occasionally won't power on properly when I move the switch to the "on" position. The strange thing about this problem is that the blue LED on the front of the radio is illuminated, but the LED screen doesn't power up, and no signal is sent from the transmitter to the car. Again, this problem happens once every so often, but I fear the TX signal being lost unexpectedly during a race if the unit decides to "power down" on its own.

If anyone's seen this behavior before, and went through whatever steps were necessary to resolve the issue, I'm listening...;)

mine has just started doing this. not sure it's the switch or a pcb. (printed circuit board). airtronics sells parts for the radio. so there's still hope.

I blew out my switch today with compressed air and cannot get the radio to malfunction again. hopefully it's good. but I doubt it. mine had a bunch of what looks like tire foam shavings from a tire truer down in the switch area. maybe it was that.

Thanks Mate :)

Anyone knows where I can get a replacement transmitter antenna?

PROMODVETTE 11-08-2014 07:35 PM

Does anyone have an exploded view of the radio?

You can use any generic 2.4GHz WIFI antenna. This is the same antenna which is used in home WIFI computer equipment and on wireless routers, etc. In fact, if your home wireless modem has these type of antenna sticking out the back of them, you can simply unscrew it and install directly on your M11x.

Alternatively, you can spend heaps on a Futaba 4PKS antenna, if you get the actual Futaba part or many brands have replacents that are cheaper.

IMHO though, one really can't go past the Team C 'shorty' antennas. They look absolutely awesome, are perhaps 1/2 the length of the original antenna and so far, in my use, even with the antenna constantly being left in the folded down position, I've encountered zero range or distance problems. If you want to know what it looks like I could post a pic of my M11x with this shorty installed. Been using for about 2 years now with no problems whatsoever.

Hope that helps mate.

Cursor

Just bought a m11x. Going though it setting it up. How do I stop the cursor from blinking? I'm a little perplexed...:weird: or, does it always blink?

Not possible - TTBOMK it always blinks. I've never seen any setting which would have some way to alter this behaviour.

Receivers?? FHSS-2 or 3

I just picked up an M11x Transmitter and I am shopping for receivers, wondering what receiver do most racers use, type and model #?

Are they FHSS-2 or FHSS-3 receiver?

Looking to get 3 or 4 receivers and I want to know if it pays to just buy the cheaper FHSS-2 receivers over the FHSS-3.
why or why not is FHSS-3 that much better/faster?

I am transitioning from an old Futaba 3PM 2.4

That would all depend on judge the validity of what you've been told or read - as in if you believe Sanwa/Airtronics' hype, then ye, the FHSS-3 are SO much faster and have far less latency than most, if not all other brands. And that somehow, they can magically make servos faster than what the servo manufacturer list in their own specs.

I can't say with certainty, but it seems highly doubtful that an Rx is able to make the motors inside the servo somehow create extra torque above and beyond that which the people who make the servo say it's capable of producing. Just doesn't seem likely to is all.

As for latency, I've only ever used the RX451 and RX451R receivers and would love to know if anyone is actually able to notice any difference between these and any FHSS-2 parts. Even better would be if some 3rd party would actually measure the latency of the receivers in an objective and repeatable manner so we could know once and for all how much truth there is in Sanwa's claims.

Just my $0.02.

FHSS2 vs FHSS3 receivers

I noticed the difference between the two types when running an on-road car, but it is less noticeable in off-road.

If you want the fail safe option, don't get the 92524 receiver.
Don't know if that's got anything to do with being a fhss 2 or not.

I would suggest the 92744 receivers. Once you bind it in shr mode, you will notice a difference. I too just switched from my old trusty 3PM 2.4 and am very happy so far. If you can find the rx471 receivers for a good price, they work as well.
