got a question: I'm using the M11 w/DSSS, 92724 and wondering if I could change/upgrade with Airtronics M11X 4-Channel Rx G FHSS-3?

Hello everybody,
I recently bought a 2nd hand M11X from a friend of mine for a good price. Technically the transmitter is in perfect shape. Only the transmitter casing is a bit cranky on the outside. So... I am looking to get a complete new casing for the transmitter and here is where it gets rough. I mailed Sanwa & Airtronics about this but up until now I did not get any response on my question. My local importer of Sanwa tells me that it is not possible to order a seperate complete casing for the transmitter. Does anyone know how I can get a complete transmitter casing for the M11X? I don't care much if it is from Sanwa or Airtronics as long as I get all the plastic case parts and logo's/decals for it so I can make my M11X as new again. All help is welcome guys!!! :D Thanx! Joost. Why not get a sticker set for the Transmitter ??? |
Thanx Phil but I have heard from several people now that it is not possible because Sanwa simply doesn't sell these parts as spare. I have to try something else like a sticker or a skin indeed.

Thanks! Any FHSS receivers are not compatible with the DSSS TX module. You're stuck using DSSS receivers, otherwise you have to buy a FHSS TX module to use the newer FHSS receivers. |
When using savox servos with airtronics rx's do any wires need to be swapped? I'm trying to center a servo to mount in a car and can't get any power to the servo. Speed control is a rs pro, and I haven't bound the TX to the rx, both servo and rx/TX are brand new. Any ideas?

Try binding TX and RX and see if that sorts it out. Also, Airtronics email support is second to none, I've found.:nod: I email them quite often and find they are extremely helpful and courteous and always reply within a day or so. Hope that helps mate. |

Pretty sure you have to bind TX and RX before you can procede with anything else. If they aren't bound, the RX obviously won't pass any signals through to the servo (as it isn't receiving any signals/transmission from the [non-existant as yet] unbound TX).

I run 17.5 stock buggy indoors only nowadays, would anyone recommend trying out ABS or traction control? Or steering/throttle ARC? Anything else? I have this fancy radio, love the response time it feels comfortable in my hand..but don't use any special features except EPA and the timer even though it's tricky(can't reset the timer to 8:00 easily). Thanks for any input. Will be racing 4x4 buggy and onroad 17.5 TC soon also, so if any of the special modes pertain to those feel free to chime in

I'm coming from spectrum, in the past as long as the rx was getting power, TX on of course, the servo would come on and center. That said I think I'm having esc issues. Will trouble shoot more tomorrow with more known good equipment.
This isn't actually mentioned anywhere at all in either the M11x or RX451/92744 or RX451R/92451 instruction manuals. It was most frustrating, I must say, but just as pleasurable when I figured out for myself what the problem was. I emailed Airtronics support about this and they said unfortunately there's nothing they can do as Sanwa makes all the devices and documentation, so there's no chance of improving the situation. At the very least, when a battery/power is connected to the (any?) RX, the LED should turn on, FFS!! Maybe it could flash [some number] of times per second to indicate that the RX has not yet been bound to any TX, rather than just playing dead. It's more than reasonable that the RX wouldn't pass along to the servos, any signals received from a TX as it is yet to be bound to a TX but to simply do absolutely nothing whatsoever, showing zero signs of life just because the RX is yet to go through the binding process is nothing less than abysmal and irresponsible performance from the engineers who designed the circuits in these RX's. Oh well, now that you know nothing will happen until you bind your RX, you can at least sort out if you have ESC or servo or RX issues because as soon as you've bound your RX, your servos should start working instantly, even before you turn the entire system off and then on again, as directed to do so in the instructions.

Another extremeley useful and for many a definite performance enhancing funtion is the Exponential control of the throttle/brake and steering controls. I've never once found a situation where I have completely disabled the steering expo. I don't always use it on throttle/brake but I do use it 100% of the time on steering, constantly altering it to my liking and depending on the track and grip conditions. For me, this is easily accomplished by setting it to trim 4 or 5, the 2 switches that are hidden at the top of the hand grip. I think the TX even defaults steering expo to one of those 2 trims. I believe that the Expo function is far superior to the ARC setting and more to the point, the servo doesn't need to be slowed down, it needs to move as fast as it possibly can to get to the position you tell it to go to but no more. That's exactly what the Expo is acheiving, once setup correctly.:nod: Regarding the timer, it is quite easy to set it to whatever number of minutes you prefer and this can be an up or down timer, either starting at zero or your chosen time. I use this to let me know when it's about time to refill my nitro buggy's fuel tank. So I set a down timer, usually around the 9 or 10 minute mark, counting down to zero and when it gets to zero, the TX starts beeping and also vibrating. It's just as simple to set it to count up to your chosen number of minutes. And the on/usage timer is very handy to know how much life you're getting from a battery pack and/or when it is time or getting close to the time when the battery should be recharged so that the TX doesn't go flat and die in the middle of the next race. Hope that gives you somewhere to start.:tire::tire: |
Thanks aaron! Very useful info and has inspired me to try the ABS and expo. With ABS, do you still turn down your brake EPA? I set my throttle EPA's to 140/160, then backed the brake off to 125.

no doubt this has been discussed in the last 121 pages on this thread but just wondering if anyone has experienced issues with the antenna of the m11x? Mine is really sloppy and yesterday I lost my range due to the thing coming a little unscrewed. I have noticed that some users have there antenna zip tied to the top handle (running flat - not upright). Any thoughts on this? Could stop it backing out....

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261019842...orig_cvip=true They look SO much better than the generic PC wireless router style aerial which is mounted at the factory and in my own experience, I haven't noticed even the slightest difference or reduction in the usable range of the system. And I leave the XPRO aerial bent over at all times, I've never straightened it out when racing or practicing.:nod: I just checked my TX and the XPRO on my radio is now getting to be at least 12-18months old and feels exactly the same as the day I installed it. It's definitely no looser or ever even come close to unscrewing itself. Actually, I only just noticed the aerial has 3 positions/angles/stops for use - bent over at 90o, straight-up, fully extended and another position in the middle, at 45o. And even the stiffness of the joint for adjusting the angle of the aerial feels very solid and also, just like the day I installed it. I'm guessing there would have to be some kind of detrimental effect on the total useable range when compared to the taller, original aerial but for me anyway, I can get my car far enough away that I'm having difficulty just trying to see the thing and figure out which way it's pointed.:D We aren't flying planes or helis or something like that which can easily get several hundred metres away from the controller, so IMHO, there's just no down-side to using the much better looking, smaller XPRO style aerial. I've also seen the exact same aerial being sold under the Team C brand-name, so if the XPRO isn't available, hopefully you might be able to locate a Team C branded version. Did I mention they're reasonably cheap too? Sure, not quite to the same price level as a generic computer wireless device aerial, which can easily be found selling for under $2 each (and I'm guessing that once the Airtronics plastic packaging is put around the $2 replacement aerial, it's price likely skyrockets to around 10x that amount) and that's exactly what we get attached to out TX, out of the box. What's not to love about the XPRO/Team C aerials?;) |
Thanks mate. I'll give your recommendation a go.

Any idea where I can get one from? There doesn't seem to be any currently for sale on eBay.
