Have a Hobbywing XERUN 150A doing something weird in my Ofna LX2e buggy. Running it with the XERUN 2000KV sensored motor and Turnigy 620DMG+HS servo.
Basically, it works fine then all of a sudden it runs about 20% of the power. It might run for a little bit at 20% for a little bit or might stop straight away, then when you pull the trigger a few times later, it's full power again. It basically repeats this a few times when you use it.
The steering still works fine while all this is happening so it isn't the RX cable or radio. I've only just soldered new battery connectors/wires to the ESC (it was doing it before I replaced them). I'm pretty sure it does it with every battery I have so I doubt it's my batteries but I will verify tomorrow when I use it. I'll also try different versions of firmware.

I used to own a Hobbywing XERUN 120A 1/10 ESC that had the same issue and I never found out what caused it. Tried different batteries and firmware. A ton of troubleshooting and could not figure it out.

Can anyone help me? Please?!?!?!

I've the same issue on my 150a on my mbx6. l've solved by setting up the push controlvfrom 0 to 5 (default) and the deadband around neutral to narrow (default is 9)

Add me to the list of those having 'odd' problems. I have a pair of HW Xerun 80A escs, one in my Rusty and one in my Slash. The Rusty one seems to work fine at all times. The one in the slash periodically loses reverse and the only thing I've found that will cure it is to recalibrate the ESC to the TX/RX. That same esc sometimes will not connect to the LCD programming box.

Bums me out, but I guess it goes with the territory when buying cheap chinese electronics with questionable quality control. Caveat emptor.

how long you had the esc,s ?
found my HW gear to be just as good and in some cases better than the big name brands

Tried that with the 120A ESC when I had it. Didn't fix it but I can try it with the 150A tomorrow. I don't have very high hopes though.

Crappy thing is, the 150A never did it from the start (120A did). I have a feeling it's firmware related but I don't understand... Shouldn't there be heaps of other people with the same problem if that's the case?

some times a cap (4700uf 10v) plugged into the rx can fix some issues.
but yours sounds imo to be current draw is to high for esc.
seen this happen with other esc,s. does it go ok if you slowly squeeze the throttle on ?

I don't think so. When it stops, it won't work at all for a few seconds (maybe 10 seconds) and then it can work fine for a few mins. Usually once it starts playing up, it becomes more and more frequent (the slow-downs).

I will plug a cap into the RX tomorrow and see. Any other ideas? Should I purchase an external BEC and try that?

if you have a cap its worth a try, i usually just buy from jaycar make my own $2
glitch buster.
when it stops for 10 sec or so it could be the rx is not getting enough voltage.
then the rx and esc have to reset.
if you can get a ubec cheap it would be worth a shot.
other than that then its beyond my limited expertise

Well, plugged in a cap to the RX and changed the deadband (or whatever it's called) to I think it's 6% (lowest setting) and it seems to be working now. I'll have to test again later just in case but so far, so good! Very happy!

Sounds like the bec in the esc cant deliver enough voltage to the rx under load.
Have had to add a cap to a few different setups i have had.
good to hear its going

EDIT: Well, I think it's my batteries but I'm still not convinced. With one of my batteries, I couldn't get it to fault (Turnigy 4s 4000mAH 30-40C). Although, with my 2 other batteries, I could (Turnigy 4s 4500mAH 30-40C) but they're much older and had a much harder life.

Ya, I bet it's your batteries.....I had the same issue you described with a pair of cheap batts from e**y. Batteries couldn't deliver a constant enough current when jammin the throttle.
