What receiver are you using?

A cap is just a battery so to speak. It keeps the receiver voltage from dropping below a certain point that causes the glitching/brownouts.

MMP and spektrum are the worst. I know guys running KO propo and MMP and have zero issues. Savox servos are also bad with spektrum. I understand this is a HW thing, but applies nonetheless.
I'm using a Spectrum SR300 with a Hitec servo. I'm going to Radio Shack this afternoon to grap a cap and see if that works too, if not I'll stop by the LHS and grab a CC BEC.

Do u think it's a bad bec that can cause this?
Just a thought, but, do you have a battery hooked up to the esc and the switch turned on when you are using the programing box?

yes.. battery hooked up...esc turned on.. i have actually used the programming box like 100+ times so this i know for sure on how to use..haha.. not like recalibrating the esc... i actually just used it to program 2 other friends esc few days before esc started acting up.. but now, for the majority of times, i turn on esc, program card lights up first number and turns off..
do you think it will help if i replace this BEC or CAP... not even sure what it...

I just recently figured out a problem with my brand new 80a xerun. I had the same problems others have had with power. When I jammed the throttle it would sputter and shut off for a second, then come back on only to sputter again. When I gently applied throttle it would work, but would have the same problems again when I hit the gas. Upon closer inspection with the problem, it appeared that the entire truck was shutting down including the receiver and servo so I narrowed it down to a BEC problem. It seemed no one had an answer for it, they just posted to turn down the timing and punch on the forums so I'm posting my solution.

A CC external BEC fixed it up perfect and I am able to run all the timing and punch that I want.

tl/dr

fixed with CC BEC

I forgot to post up my findings too, CC BEC fixed mine as well. I run throttle punch on level 5 as well as timing. Works great now and the cc bec only weighs 1/2 oz

I'm not running a cap, just the CC BEC. Never had a problem with any other ESC's onboard before, guess it was just a dud. Not worth the time to send it back, I wanted it working this weekend.

Hi guys

I've swapped to an ezrun 60a 5.5t combo for my buggy and so far been really impressed with the performance - way faster than my old setup and a 1/3rd of the cost. However I've a couple of questions regarding the motor and the programming box

I can only get to option 10 on the LED - I want option 11 so I can reverse the motor so I can run in my mid motor car, any ideas as to how?

On the motor I want to remove the soldered in bullet connectors so I can put them on the opposite side as it rubs my bodyshell - I've tried to desolder them but can't get them off, again any ideas or is it not possible

The counterrotation is not supported via firmware for your particular model. I have 3 hobbywing escs, and they all have different numbers of configurable parameters (ezrun SC8, xerun 60A, xerun 150A).

If you buy the programmable LCD box, you can potentially have newer firmware which might support this (again might but you should confirm with hw support).

what wattage iron are you using? Also, if you're using an ezrun esc that means you're running sensorless, so you can just switch any two of the wires to achieve counter-rotation.

Thanks for the replies

I was aware about swapping the two wires but was curious that the programming card had it written on but it wouldn't get to the step. I'll just swap the phases for now

The soldering iron is 240v 50w - not the best but I can solder the wires into the esc with it so assumed it should be ok to unsolder the connectors?
