koopesv - I have run my 60a in 2wd off-road, with a 9.5-17.5. No fan, no caps. The esc has never gotten hot, I use the HW software with timing all the way up and punch - almost all the way up .

Come to think of it, since yours is dead, would you mind opening it up and checking out what FETs it has (should have a P/N on the FET package) and quantity of those FETs? Then we can look up the datasheet and take a look at the specs.
I will try but thats looks to be were the heat was at in the FET area.

Don't know about the fan noise. I run a 9.5 and up in my TQ car with the xerun 60 and I don't even use the fan.

I did have an old LRP Comp that had a hyper active fan, you could hear that thing spinning from across the track. Maybe use an aircan or air compressor to blow the fan out to make sure no debris is inside. they are easy to unscrew and unplug from the hobbywings.
thanks for the reply sir. will unscrew the fan just to make sure nothing funky is in it. while im at it, im also wondering, how do i got about in being able to use in 3s lipos with my 60a esc? i read in the manual that the esc itself can handle it but what do i do about the fan?

sorry, I only run 1/10 with 2s lipo - so I can't answer the 3s and 4s questions.

You need a 12v fan if your going to run a 3s pack. Just pick one up at a local computer shop... or run without one... just keep your runs short and check your ESC temps often.

as pyro mentioned a high voltage fan is good. HW makes one if you can find it. Any correct size computer fan will work too but I haven't found them that small yet at the places I go to. I've run the stock fan on 3s and it runs loud and hit in the center (where the motor is) but otherwise runs fine. Because its spinning so fast it actually cools quite well. But no idea how long the fan will last in 3s.

will the 35 amp 17.5t work for stock sct class? or what would be the equivalent to the stock 17t and esc speedo. i'm still new and not looking at running mod class for a while. i heard the brushless are more efficient and less maintenance than brushed and my stock speedo won't do brakes or reverse anymore.

Is the 17.5 the ribbed can? If it is then it's a 540 can with a 380 sized rotor, and isn't going to cut it in SCT. As far as the speedo 35A isn't going to cut it. With my 65amp in my slash with a 8.5T geared CONSERVATIVE it was peaking at 68amps and constant at 42ish.

hey guys has anyone had any issues with the xerun bec's? now im not going to start blaming hobbywing just yet but i was running my electric today and i have a jr z9100t for steering and a hitec 645 for brake and they both went up in smoke. the hitec litterly! i have end points and all endpoints have always been set correctly, less a bit if any. now i understand the hitec is a cheaper model but for real? and ive been having issues with the jr and "locking up" when theres no power going to it, so i mean im not 100% surprised but just got me thinking ya know!!?? i just dont want to put new servos in if there could be a problem with the esc! i will be sending the servos in non the less so i guess they will ultimitly tell me if they were fryed from over voltage, just thought id ask you guys first?

nikos2002, pyro18t, JSR:

thanks for the reply guys, sorry for the noob questions. so just to be on the safe side i'll look for a 12v fan.

...although i will run it on 3s for a couple of minutes with the old fan just to be able to tell the difference when running on 3s compared to a 2s. hopefully curiosity kills JUST cats

The even turn motors are the 380 sized ribbed cans and the .5 turn motors are the true 540 sized motors. I got the 8.5T(4000kv) for my sons slash and it is fast. In fact, I've had to turn it way down for him, wish I had of gone with something milder. Oh well, he's a great driver and will adapt and then he will be crazy fast

If it's a true 540 size it should be fine in your SCT

I've got a question, is the hobbywing esc 60a the same as the hobbyking 60a esc?

most likely it is - Hobbywing produces esc's for several companies - they change certain parameters on the esc's but the guts are from Hobbywing.
