Hi guys. New to this forum, but this looked like a good place to get a question answered.
I have just joined the Hobbywing ranks thanks partly to the info I found on this forum. I have a Xerun 120 & a Ezrun 25 amp, both V2.0.
My first question is about the 120 esc. I ran it yesterday for the first time & it was sweet. Something that I noticed, though, was when I go to plug the battery to the esc connectors together, a spark would jump between the plugs. I'm using the Deans plugs. The 25 esc didn't do this. Any thoughts???
Question two is about the fans. The fan on the 120 esc seemed to do fine. But the one on the 25 esc sounded strange. Sounded like it was speeding up & slowing down. I ran it about 5 or 6 five minute runs with a cool down period between each run. When I got home & removed the body, it had a burning electrical smell to it. If you connect the fans to the receiver & run off the BEC, will the esc stay cool enough? If left alone, how long do the fans last before burning out?

I dropped the 5.5/60A combo in my zx-5. And honestly it's too much! But you can tame it down with the programmer card. I already need to address my rear diff as it feels chunky. And most of the time the front tires are total cookie cutters at anything over half throttle. I am going to try a much softer setting next time out and see if it helps.

Yeah I know what you mean about the front tires, the XXX-4 has the option to "under drive" the front pully. Either way the 8.5T, or the 5.5T is going to be a good setup in your car!

Mind sharing wht size pinion you're running on tht combo? I just received my combo a few days back.

I think that I'm geared to low. I'm running a 18/92. I'm going to step it up to a 21/92 and see how my temps are. Things seem to get hotter all the way around in my XXX-4, because of how low the body is. I cut some holes in the front of the motor which helped, but it still runs hotter than a 2wd buggy with the motor sticking out the back. I'll find out in a couple of days, it's been in the mid-high 90's here and I don't want to COOK my motor before the weekend races.

I´m thinking to buy Team Academy gv2 pro 2wd buggy and thought getting hobbywing 60A ESC and 9T motor.
But almost for the same prize as Hobbywing 60A esc there is ORION VORTEX 1/10 BL SENSOR/SENSORLESS CONTROLLER 70A (6.5T)
Prizes are 57$ vs 45£ delivered.

I´m thinking to drive ezrun 9t anyway. So which ESC would you buy?

edit: Nevermind. Offer for the Team Orion ESC has been closed. Yesterday they were in stock, but today there´s none. I think for that prize it could have been good deal but wanted some advice for that matter.

cheers..am wondering now if I should get the 120amp sensored system or is it not needed? as local has told me the 120amp for 4wd?

I was using the 60A version in my Slash for awhile! It NEVER got hot at all. I think the 120A will be over kill in a 4wd buggy. Plus you've got to think about the foot print size. The 60A is rated for 60Amps CONSTANT, and can handle much more for short periods.

How are these ESC in real race situations verses some of the more high end ESC in the market. I may buy one for my LOSI XXXCR. I want to run in a 13.5 spec class what is the equivalent combo and what gearing i should use?

I speed controler is GREAT, the 13.5 motor is accually a 380 sized motor made to look like a true 13.5. Personally I would get the 60A ESC and a trinity Duo 2 and run that. I use my 60A ESC and 8.5T motor in my XXX-4 in the MOD Pro class and it does very well.

I have a buddy that runs a 35 and does very well also but we are running on a tight indoor carpet track. I want to get into brushless but don't know if i really need a sensored motor. My friend got the motor the speed control and the digital program card all for less than $70.

Hobbywing doesn't recomend the 35A Ezrun ESC for offroad, I would just stick with the 60A, it's small and will work in just about any 1/10th you can find.

ended up ordering the 120 amp sensored ecu and a Team powers 8.5 turn motor...got it for $164 usd so couldnt refuse...youve got me worried now it wont fit in the Losi xxx-4 G+
