Sorry guys, the Futaba system is NOT Nomadio technology as some would like you to think. Futaba developed their own system for 2.4 same as Sanwa and the forthcoming KO systems.
The 4PK will switch for lefties. It's very light even with the stock battery installed. Looks a little funky but you get used to it. It also comes with the Hara trigger for those of you who have smaller fingers or like a tighter feel for push braking. |

Rampal,
Don't know for sure since I don't work for Sanwa but it's probably similar to the Futaba system. The difference between the two version for Japan/Europe and the rest of the world is output power. The "JDM" version is the low power version due to government restrictions on broadcast strength. Don't quote me on that, just an educated guess based on what I know from the Futaba system. Socko |

Socko in other hand, it is indeed a leftie radio.... http://www.rceasy.com/ch2/wp-content...0/dsc00047.jpg anyway, are you going to release it with an steering drop down option? regards, al |

QUOTE] sorry as well jonny, i heard that a bunch so thats why i posted that |
The M11 2.4 system is DSSS and the MX3 2.4 system is FHSS. Spektrum is also DSSS. The 3pk and Nomadio are FHSS.

Yes, it will have the drop wheel option and adjustable angle like the Helios.
Don't have a ship date yet. You guys will probably know before I do! :D |
Hi Jonny,
The 4PK looks awesome but why did Futaba decide to go without a module? Aren't module-based radios better for taking advantage of new technology. Look how the 3PK has been able to evolve - from crystals, to synthesized, to Spektrum and now Fasst, all with the same radio. I guess it's hard to imagine Fasst could be improved on but who knows what's around the corner. Also, what's the Hara trigger? I'm assuming it's a tighter trigger but did Hara do something special with his trigger on the 3PK. Thanks |
Jon123,
I figure Futaba decided to do away with the module to move 2.4 into the mainstream. This does leave out all the users who want to run 27 or 40 or synthesized, etc. but it eliminates one area of cost for the user who doesn't have any of that equipment already. The "Hara" trigger is simply smaller, nothing else. The springs and feel are the same as the standard trigger. It eliminates the need to heat and bend a stock trigger to make it fit your finger tighter. Socko |
jonny what is your connection with futaba? how do you know all of this?

Jonny Socko invented r/c
He works for Great Planes. |
If the 4PK isn't modular, then that's a bummer! I was going to wait for it, but I may have to settle for the 3PKS instead because I like being able to race my Mini-Z using the 27Mhz AM Module.

Johnny,
Do you know if users shall be able to update the radio's software/firmware - I.e. similar to the Nomadio radios? I like the fact that their radios are pretty much software driven, and they regularly release new features via software/firmware updates... If so, I think that this will be my next radio. I was going to get the new 3PM w/FASST, but I think I'll wait for this one instead. I currently use a 3PM in HRS mode... Works great! I was very excited to hear about the new 4PK. |
ETA?
Nice piece here!!.. :) |
