Not really sure what RC discharger system you are referring to. Read the thread. Ive mentioned this a few times. You can do regenerative discharge back into a battery or through the internal 40W discharger. There is no other discharging function for this charger, no resister bank, no discharging from one channel to another.

The RC Discharger system is designed to be use with ichargers, it allows you to use the regenerative discharge function to discharge into a battery. It is an expensive unit, however I do not think it will work with this charger.

If it goes on the power input side of the charger it should work. If it relies on using discharge from one channel to the other, it will not.

If all it does is allow it to do regen discharge and still provide AC-DC power to the charger, I dont see how this wouldnt work with the M8D. Its not like the ichargers have some special communication port with this RC Discharger. Im sure all the controls is done on the standalone logic board. But at $330, do you want to risk and and try it.

RC discharger is actually doing nothing fancy. He just creates what is mentioned in the manual and with his 3D printer he creates a nice housing on it.
Regenerative Discharger 2S - RC Discharger
Nothing more than a case with a battery and a power supply. And so far I can see he probably did add a BMS for the battery.

Hi guys, reading your reviews, I ordered one too, can anyone tell me if by updating the firmware there is a risk of losing the precision of the balancer calibration? or are there no problems?

Im sure theres more than "just a BMS for the battery". There must be some logic and voltage and current detection and power switching from battery and AC power. It needs to keep the battery at a low charge all the time in order for it to be ready to accept charge back from the charger and be intelligent enough to switch to AC power when the battery voltage drops too low.

A decent BMS with maybe a relay activated by the PSU to switch the battery between a load and the charger can do that, I doubt he has designed an own circuit board doing that.

Power supply is always on. BMS is set so that battery is kept at a specific storage voltage and not a full charge, that way there is room in the battery to accept a discharge. Power to charge is provided by the battery until it sags below a predetermined voltage and then the power supply will start providing power to cover the power needs of the charger and get the battery back up to the storage threshold. I'm doing something similar on a much larger scale, albeit less expensive and bulkier, with a 100aH LiFePO battery and small AC charger. This is feeding up to 10 racers running up to 12 charger channels.

Just got a M8d today. I was wondering if you guys have changed the "balance start voltage" in the settings. It was taking forever for the charge to end with the default setting.

That is the biggest complaint I have with the charger right now. Yes, we did update one charger to the 400mV setting, which I believe was as high as it goes for balance start voltage. I did not yet hear back if this helped speed up the final stage of charging however.

After I posted last night, I lowered it to 10mv and it made a huge difference. It charged at my set amps until a cell hit 4.19 then it slowed down and balanced from there.
