ToolkitRC M8D Charger

New charger from ToolkitRC. Its an iCharger DX8 style charger with a flip touch screen. It can charge 30A per channel and 50A when sync, 40W discharge and 65W PD output to charge your laptop or phone (but I could never get it to deliver anything close to it). It doesnt have the function where you can dump power from one port to another or the ability to hook up any resistor load. I picked this charger up for under $120 just to try it out and so far so good. Loving the screen and touch screen. Its much easier to navigate through the menu and you still have a scroll wheel to fine tune the settings

Spec sheet says 800W discharge in Recycle mode. How does that work if it doesn't support dumping the power to the other port?

It only works if the charger is plugged into a battery. It will dump the charge back to that.

Just got mine a couple weeks easier easier to use then the dx6 or dx8 , not quite as simple as the m6d. 2 amp balance is nice , voice alerts are weird sounding. The color changing outputs based on charge states is a helpful feature , you can glance over and see if a batt is done , if you didn't hear the cracking ai voice charge complete . Still playing with as all the features. Seems to be a great value.

Really considering one in lieu of a DX6 as a smaller/lighter alternative to my old 406DUO, which will retire to at-home charge/discharging duties. It really does almost everything a DX6 can do, except discharge from one channel to the other, with a much nicer interface and a much lower cost. Interested to hear other's experiences with it.

how is setting the voltage cutoff and discharging? I currently only charge at 20amps and discharge at 20amps. Can this charge do that without an external discharge device?

For the price its a really good charger IMO. The touch interface isn't as good as I'd hoped, so I find myself using the buttons and scroll wheels on the side. It's really difficult to use the 'slider' controls to set things, for example setting the charge amps is difficult to get exactly correct using the touch screen.

Other than that minor issue I've had zero problems with it.

Got mine ordered. After all the Labor Day purchases I’m curious when mine will be pulled and shipped?

Where did you order from, really looks like a nice charger for the price point.

The setup process is pretty painless and straight forward. You cannot discharge at 20amps with this charger. The internal discharger can only handle 40W which is around 5amps with a 2S battery. If you want to discharge at a higher current, you need to do it in "recycle" mode which can be done if you are powering the charger with an external battery.

I agree, the touch isnt good for fine tuning and adjustment the settings on the charger but once I had all my charging mode set up, I hardly use the scroll wheel or anything. Tapping the screen is all I really need.

.

So the recycle mode is the only way to discharge at a higher amp is to have somewhere for that power to go that痴 being taken out 🤔 So I will need to have an external discharger if I dont wish to wait for a 5amp discharge. I値l have both my chargers at the track until I知 completely sold on this charger. Thanks for the info

Yes, you need to bring around an external standalone discharger if you dont want to wait, or just run your car till its close to storage voltage?

jmanikis 09-03-2024 05:30 AM

iam sure you just need to hook up a 6 cell or a 8 cell battery to it and use that to charge and discharge at the those high rates .kind of like the regenerative discharger for the icharger

Ordered one on AliExpress for under $100 shipped.
