Questions?? Whats is a good lap timing system?

Looking to have 10-20 cars on the same system. What's the best option and where to buy? Thanks for any help.

MyLaps is the go to setup.

Depends on budget, if you got the money then a MyLaps system with their transponders is probably the best but it wont be cheap!

if you're on a budget look at an IR system, we use it at our smaller club. Its a lot cheaper compared to MyLaps at about 3500-4000 for the system and over 100 per transponder. Something like: https://trackmateracing.com/shop/en/...p-counter.html

It works with all the usual lap counting software, very accurate too.

What is the total number of transponders it can read?

Does is work with any other brand of transponders?
Also Do you know the total of transponders you can have running? I read something about 14 but not sure if that is the max.

Another inexpensive IR based option is LapMonitor which supports up to 96 unique transponders:
https://lapmonitor.com/store/en/tran...ponder-jr.html

Only issue with LapMonitor is that the software isn't as sophisticated as TrackMate where I prefer LapMonitor for quick setup and operation for a small group but if you want to share results on a website, then TrackMate is better suited for a traditional RD experience where TrackMate requires more hardware to setup and tear down. If you will leave everything fixed (indoor) then TrackMate is better suited for a budget IR system.

If money is no object, the MyLaps is industry standard if you want to host large race events and expect to have racers attend from other areas.

I'm not sure about that exact system, you'd be better off contacting them directly to check. Our local club runs an iRace system, similar IR setup and they state you can have up to 50 cars per race: https://www.kamtec.co.uk/p/irace-lap...d-complete-set

Its worked flawlessly for years. Transponders are cheap enough to have quite a few handouts if we run bigger meetings, plus racers dont mind buying them due to the price.

Seems there's 2 parts to your question. What transponder system to use and what race software? By far the most common transponder system is Mylaps. But it's expensive both for the decoder $3500+ and the transponders.

The alternatives are iLaps or Trackmate, which are around $600 for the decoder and receivers. They are both IR based systems that are incompatible with each other. But they both require line of sight between the transponder and receivers, meaning the transponders have to be mounted outside the body, clear windows, holes in body, etc. The receivers for the decoder are mounted above the track. Most places use a PVC pipe.

LiveTime supports all of these systems. If you go with iLaps or Trackmate, you can use their basic plan which is $10/month. Only other limitation is 20 registrations per race event.

MyLaps is a good setup, but it is pricy. That’s what I used for my backyard setup.

If you can wait, at MRT we are finalising our 'reasonably priced' decoder system. No details are currently available, I will leave it there until we have more info!

Hello,

you can try use ID10 Lap timing system from vostokelectronics.com: https://www.vostokelectronics.com/product/tdcoderis/
This decoder can read all types of Vostok transponders, MRT, AMB RC, AMB DP, Mylaps rc4 hybrid transponders and have a lot of features: Internal backup battery, Bluetooth audio transceiver, Wifi/Ethernet/USB interfaces.
All for running is included in the box: loop, coaxial cable, some power adapters/wires and transponder too.
It works with a many scoring software as LapsFree, RCM, RCgarage, Zround, ,Flipside racing, RCSP, RC-timing and many other software including application for Android (for direct data reading from Decoder to your smartphone!).
Cheap transponders. Friendly seller :-)

Now this system have one of the best price / value ratio.
All works well.
Tested ;-)

Simple, it is not compatible with the current RC4 transponder most people now have.
