Default Just checking LiPo charging parameters. Please verify...

I bought a MaxAmps battery with the following specs...
  • 2250mah capacity
  • 3S 11.1 volts
  • True 100C rating
  • Lifetime warranty
  • 5C fast charge capable
I have a Tenergy TB6B charger. According to what I'm reading, I can charge this battery at 11.25 amps, but the charger's max amperage is 5 amps. I should be able to balance charge at 5 amps safely?

Also, I have three Lectron Pro 2S 2000mAh 50C LiPo's. It says 2C charge rate on them, so I can safely balance charge these at 4 amps? I was going to play it safe and charge them at 2 amps anyway. I've been charging them at 1amp and it takes about an hour and a half.

I also ordered two Turnigy 3s 2200mAh 40C LiPo's. Hobbyking says on their spec page that max charge rate is 5C,so I can charge these at 5 amps safely?

TIA,
Tony.

A lower current will do no harm, it even gives a better life to the battery.

send the max amps back. ..
5c either use a online tool to understand what 5 c is on a 2200mah battery..its 11 amps not 5 amps . thats a little over 2.5c charge rate up grade you low end charger

How to Calculate the Charging Time and Charging Current for Battery Charging? 1 T = Time hrs. 2 Ah = Ampere Hour rating of battery. 3 A = Current in Amperes Example: Suppose for 120 Ah battery:

@ the rc guy
While I agree that MaxAmps are over rated packs, his calculations are correct for what 5C would be on the pack.

Charging at 5 amps will be fine. You may wish to upgrade to a nicer charger, but charging the pack at roughly 2C will be fine.

in the future, there are better values for your dollar than MaxAmps, but enjoy what you have and go charge.

Thanks for the input! I'm just getting back into RC after a 30 year hiatus. Last time I charged batteries, they were NiCads charged off a car battery. I'll eventually get a better charger, but I got this one a year ago to get us started.

Tony.

Yes you can always charge a battery at lower than the max charge rate where 11.25A is the max so 5A is perfectly fine.
