Using High Voltage Servos/BEC with TSM receiver

I would like to know if anyone here has used a high voltage BEC setting (8.0V to 8.4V) with high voltage servos and a Traxxas TSM receiver.
I don't want to burn out a receiver if this doesn't work.
I already know that the instructions say it should be connected to 4.8-6.0V "to bind."
I called Traxxas before posting here and to ask if the TSM receiver was compatible with 8.4V BEC and all they said was it "should" work.
To me, "should" is not the same as "does". It indicates conjecture rather than knowledge.
I would like to know if it "does" work (from someone who has done it) or if it "doesn't" work (from someone who tried it and burnt out the receiver).
Is there such a peron (or persons)?

Todays electronis are running on 3.3 or 5v and have no room to run more. Basically in any receiver you will find a voltage regulator to controll the voltage but sadly there are plenty of voltage regulators with also an input limit of 5.5 to 6.5v
The most common voltage regulator comes in this package:

Maybe you can open the receiver and find such a component and give us the code printed on it or place detailed pics of the PCB so we can serch the voltage regulator and with that its specification. It is most of the time located close to the battery connector.
