I am looking for a 8.5-9.5 motor for a T5M I recently picked up. I was searching Ebay and found one from Team power products. It looks promising. The model is R3.1. Has anyone ever heard or used one of their motors? I would buy a Trackstar but it looks like most of their motors are on back order. Any other sub $60 motors you'd recommend.

I have found the Surpass Rocket V4S to be great bang for buck. I run one in a 17.5T stock buggy and its going really well.

If wanting a new motor check out Hobby Star, SMC, or the new line of Eco Power motors.

If you're looking at Hobby Star you can just get the original Surpass for a bit cheaper. Same for most TrackStar motors.

The Surpass motors seem to be a solid performer for the money. I think I might go that route. Is the V4 that much better than the V3?

I don't know for sure as I haven't had the v3, but about 18 months ago the new motors got noticably faster than the rest. I suspect the V4 is much better than the V3 and would pay for the newer one if it was me.

Lol. Last time I bought a SMC motor (many moons ago) they were $50. Didn't realize that they're just selling the Lowrider model now for $99. My bad.

So I ended up taking a chance on the power products 9.5 motor. Got on ebay for $45 shipped. It looks to be a rebranded Surpass rocket V3 with a cutout on the top so you can measure the stator. According to their website you can order these motors with upgraded bearings if your racing.
Out of the box it seem well built. There's very little play on the rotor and the machining seems spot on. Hopefully it works as well as it looks and feels. Would post a pic but I guess I'm to new to the forum.
