I would like to know how this nb4 compare to mt44, m12s, m17, 7px. I'm really interested in getting this radio. Ergonomics is not an issue to me. I can work with it. I just want to know the radios characteristics in terms of response, consistency, glitch, feel of the wheel and throttle.
I'm just getting back in rc racing after almost a decade and i don't want to spend too much money in radio. I still have my m11 but i don't want to use it coz it's heavy and its fm (scared of glitching).

This is what I was kind of already thinking too, I personally would like to have either a proper service center in the US or at least a way to get replacement parts for known items that will wear out (regardless of brand).

What you see circled in red is what I would want to replace with just a few screws and be on my way for $40 or less, that would convince me to make this radio system worth the investment:

Gotta ask FlySky rep but you'll most likely have to send it back for them to replace it.

Honestly I've been using it almost everyday so far and haven't got any issue yet. It's as reliable as my old Futaba 3PK.
The only improvements I did was wrapping the handle with overgrip (which I do on every Tx I use) and changing the foam to Yeah Racing YA-0270 because I like to grab and hold something soft and cushiony.

This wheel breaking off thing was making me curious, so I had to google it. And the only thing I found was a video on youtube where someone received it broken. It was replaced, and the person states "I got a replacement & I think I was just unlucky new unit is great. Buy here:"... This is the only instance I seem to be able to find, doesnt appear that there are a ton of radios with wheels just braking off all the time. Why are people worried about this? lol

That's the one I found and another incident is a comment in my video saying he broke the wheel because he pulled it to adjust the position. That wouldn't have happened if he had pulled it by the back plate or the arm. Don't worry, he epoxied it back so all is right.

Wheel breakage in the reviews here: All 4 reviews had the wheel break.

Well, yup. All the reviews are raving, but say the wheel broke off lol.

morvlorv 10-29-2019 04:43 PM

interesting about those 4 wheels popping off.
I wonder if there was a bad batch? Im sure Amazon has sold more than 4 of these radios, and the way Amazon shoppers put up reviews, I think if this was a major issue, there would be more than 4.
Just my opinion from selling on Amazon for years, and knowing the Amazon shopper pretty well.
This does have me worried now though, hahah.
I would sure hate for it to happen in a race, talk about bad timing.
I do feel pretty good though about none of the users here in this group having the steering wheel pop off issue yet, so I hope it doesnt become common.
All those guys it happened too right off the bat, so maybe we are good since ours didnt break when we took them out of the box..

I hope this radio stays as durable as its been, I really like this radio.

I would imagine they must've made a running change fixing the issue. Otherwise it would be much more widespread.

we have a couple of these radios, my kids have dropped them etc not one issue

My nb4 will be arriving in about a week. Do we really need to update firmware to the latest?

BambooSword 10-30-2019 01:37 AM

I feel like this transmitter is like Kia Stinger GT. Loved by owners, loathed by others, underappreciated because it's from the brand that only makes cheap disposable stuffs for years.

Not really. Latest firmware gives you 8 channels and OSD value when you adjust the trim. But it doesn't show the value on the axis after that so I don't update.
Another visible improvement is now it assigns RF standard (one-way/2-way/Mini-Z EVO) to model memory (previously it was global) so it won't get confused when you switch the standard. This was a bug in 4CH version but if you only use 2-way you won't see a difference except after update it needs about 3 secs to switch the RF standard.
There's probably some more improvement like 3 position switch too but if you don't use any of those you don't have to upgrade.

Having problems setting the failsafe on my NB4. When I try to test to see if it's set, I turn the tx off, acknowledge the question box that I really want to turn it off, and the car just keeps running at whatever speed it was at when I shut the tx off. Obviously the fail safe is not working but I can't figure out why. Anybody got any suggestions I can try?

Tks
Rich
