Steering servo cuts out...need help!
#1
Hey all!
i just recently completed my Tekno ET48.3 and ran it for the first time today! Super happy! However, my steering servo cuts out pretty much all the time. I have no idea what is going on.
here is what I’m running: mamba monster x with bec set to 7.4v, savox sb2273sg servo; Futaba 3PV with the r302gf receiver, SMC 6s Lipo, Hobbystar 4092 1730kv motor.
not sure if this is a brown out as I’ve read on the interwebz or if it is something different. I did notice that when I plug my battery into the esc I hear a small pop. I don’t have any wires crossed and nothing appears to be shorted out as the battery would probably blow up.
anyways, I’m at a loss. Any help is much appreciated!

The plop is the charging peak of the capacitors of the ESC.
There is enough said about the conbination of a Castle Creations ESC and Savox servo's, the BEC is weak. So probably you need a different servo or an external BEC. But 1st of all check your endpoints if they are not mechanically blocked.

I would recommend looking at a HW XR8 ESC. Sounds Cliche, but as an FYI you can contact them directly and they also sell re manufactured items with full warranty at a lesser cost. If not there are many for sale on here every now and then for a good deal. Also a Sensored Motor, like the SMC 1900KV is very good for its cost. This way you will be good to go, without really breaking the bank. And the XR8 in all forms is a great ESC, I have Raced it in Truggy and Buggy, no issues. My son runs it as well in 1/8 onroad.
Another thing to consider is that a Truggy puts a huge strain on any servo, so if the Servo has the specs, but as Roelof stated, can not be supported by the ESC / BEC its no use.
Best of luck, and have fun with the ET, its a great Truggy.
