This is what I ended up with.. after one attempt at using the stock resistors (did not work!) ... This gives me almost 15amp discharge.. which is as much as I want to put my packs into storage.

A 20 year old discharger - repurposed for today!

Can anybody help me figure out where I’ve gone wrong here?

Ive got 4x 1ohm 100w resistors for discharging a 2S battery. I’ve got the extra discharge mode switched and and balance enabled. Resistor bank is hooked up in line with the battery on the positive side. With the discharge rate set to 30A the charge rate doesn’t get over 3A.

Any ideas?

It looks like the balance plug wires are not properly connected to the battery. The positive balance wire must be connected to the battery terminal directly, not after the resistor bank. This is why the charger sees a large imbalance between cells 1 and 2, 4.1v and 3.5v.

Ah, thanks! That must be it. I’ll change where my resistor is connected so that doesn’t happen.

Thanks for the help, I was able to get it going and the charge lead still looks pretty clean with a 4mm connector inline.

You can now use the Cycle mode at 30A on your iCharger X6 with the Regenerative Discharger by RC Discharger

I don't see any better / active X6 thread so I'll ask here --- anyone break the multi-click button on the right of the charger yet? I found mine smashed upon return from snowbirds. Anyone repairing these??

Someone replaced it with some push buttons on the RCG thread. Not sure I've seen anyone replace it though. If it's still within the warranty period, I would think they would fix it.

Default discharge

O.k fellas , im about at the end of my rope with this charger. it is suppose to be able to discharge up to 30A .
so i built a discharging bank. after sorting through 100s of post i have came up with the following items
x5 100watt 1ohm resistors wired in parallel

the problem is that i only see 30 amp discharge for a few seconds, then it reverts back to 25 amps continuous.
when i try to cycle , it will discharge at 30amp for a few seconds then it reverts back to 4amp continuous ..

I posted on rc groups and am being told i have to many resistors . so I only used x4 resistors and lost 5 amps or so. start at 25 but will only hold 20 amp
now im being told I may have the wrong resistors.

What is the deal here? do i have a defective charger or what? for the few that said they can do 30amp discharge, what are the specs on your magic resistors and how many did you use.
I dont understand how there is only 1 spec to use to discharge a 2 cell pack at 30 amps but yet nobody is on the same page.
Maybe i got a bad resistor, i'll check tonight.

Any Ideas , PLEASE HELP

You can't use the cycle mode with a resistor bank, you need a regenerative discharger for X6

you can but you can not charge with it connected . i set mine to chg< dis-chg
after it finishes charging i have the delay set so i can plug in the resistor bank before the discharge cycle starts.
Thats what I seen on rcgroups

Thats the least of my worries, trying to get 30amp continuous discharge is my main priority. I added the cycle info to inform the possibility of a defective charger.
