If you have a safety concern at your local track you should be bringing it to the attention of the race director and letting them make the decision. If somebody is charging at an unsafe let the race director put them on notice that they can't be doing that. Or have them move them way away from everyone else. Most race you should have common sense about safe charging practises

All this reads like how to make napalm bombs. We all know how much fun those are!
Next, wrap them in thermine and use a lipo bag full of hydrogen to up the effect!

You don't charge 12V car batteries at those amps!

And no one brought up the Dreamliner,

Why charge that high? 40 amps! Theres no need. But, I just try to drive better to lower my lap times so what do I know!

I was at a track in North Houston Texas a few years back and this guy had a fire start in one of his cars. He told me it was the speed control that flamed up but it was emitted toxic smoke like crazy. I got away from there as fast as possable and I ran into the guy later and I asked him about the fire he said that just let smolder there as no one had a fire extinger to put it out. He also told me it was so hot that it warped the chassis. Michael

The funny thing about this story is that we all (!!!!) can bring large bags with all type of cans with cleaners, greeses etc but no one has a small simple car fire extinger in the bag.

seeing I have 5 in the house ( 2 floors and a basement) ...
and 2 in the truck, 1 in the motorcycle...

I think I will have to add one to my RC tool box...
but the truck does carry my rc stuff and I pit from the tailgate.
I even have a 10 gauge wire from the truck battery to the tailgate.. auto fused at both ends..

Safety First.....-------

the 'stuff' people believe in the rc world is flat out insane...
40 amps into a little battery.. 10 is to much.
you can weld car frames with that much power.
.
in 1992.. I went to a regional indoor carpet race.. a sponsored driver placed peanut butter on its batteries before changing them.. then washed it off just before installing into his rc car.

no joke. Mind games at its best.

fire yes.... lipo fire NO...

gasoline, diesel, motor spray, cleaning fluids.. WD40, tire compound, glues, lighting cigarettes,

cell phone fires... child riding cars... computer fires. hand scanners at stores.. not likely.

a very long time ago.. I was removing a car gas tank.. the seam split.. I was covered from head to toe. at a gas station/garage.. nothing happened.. I took proper procedures not to catch on fire..

I lived... and returned to work the next day..

I would be more careful.. handling 110 octane racing fuel.. then a possible lipo fire.

I guess some might not read threads... just post onto them..
