my A80 arrived. it has no physical stops. our family is an apple family so i'm sure the USB dongle won't work for me. is there a worry with the lack of physical stops? never had a servo like this before.

What is the complete model number? What do you mean it has no physical stops.

The software is windows only.

Nothing to worry about with regards to the stops. You can program it to be continuous. Out of the box the settings work fine.

Funny you mention the lack of stops... so I just "cooked" my A80 yesterday, at first I thought I may have stripped the gears, but the problem persisted after swapping out the gears with a fresh set. I then carefully inspected the original gears to confirm that nothing was stripped and there was problem somewhere on the main board, though the motor was still spinning it just wouldn't initiate the signal to the gears without causing a brownout.

The amount of throw that this servo offers is FAR wider than any other servo I have used in the past and I was taking full advantage of this feature not realizing that even though the servo is whisper quiet, I was binding the servo at full lock and couldn't "hear" the bind. I have a new A80 on order and will be extra careful setting the EPA next time!

I don't plan on making a warranty claim, I'm chalking this up to user error for not properly setting the EPA

What is the best way to set your EPA on the buggy or servo? Is there a good video to watch explaining the process? In all my years bashing RCs I've never bothered setting the EPA. Now that I'm gonna start racing I better learn to take better care of my buggy and stuff. Thanks

I turn the EPA down low. Then I hold full lock while bumping it up until I reach full travel in the steering or get close to full throttle travel on a nitro. Then I back it off a few steps.

It's important to always set your EPA properly.

Could you suggest a good video to watch on that setting? I'm more of a visual learner. Thanks

interesting buddy. sorry it bit the dust on you. for me, it was certainly weird to pull it out of the box and it have no stops. again, just not what i'm used to. it makes me wonder how it works. does the receiver/transmitter assign digital stops to it? i mean with airtronics, you get 150 increments, does that mean. damn, i don't know. hard for me to wrap my head around how it works. it did power it up with another car setup i have and sure enough, it doesn't spin in circles LOL.

rest of my electronics will be here tomorrow and i'll set end points. for those asking, make sure when setting your end points that you do it with the vehicle on the ground. if you do it on the bench with no load/resistance, you may miss out on some throw.

with the servo being programmable, I have to wonder if it's possible to put it in "winch mode" perhaps? Not that I'm interested in doing that, just might explain the lack of stops.

On the AGF website some of the servos have firmware for standard mode or winch mode. I assume you flash the firmware for whichever mode you want. The reason the stops aren't needed for servos with magnetic encoders is because, unlike a lot of potentiometers, they can rotate infinite degrees without damage.

i want to put this into a 1/8 e buggy with hobbywing sct esc, turnigy 1900kv motor and fly sky gt3b radio.

i know this stuffs “cheap” but I’m budget minded. Just wanted to know if this servo was enough for my buggy. I’ve never raced btw.

It's ok. A rebrand of one of the DS servos that many are selling. My friend used it for his etruggy to race this past season. It lasted through quite a bit of racing before stripping a gear. SCT should be easier on it than truggy.

it’s going on an 1/8 ebuggy, the esc is just called sct but if I read the forums right people use it for buggy with no probs.

is there another similarly priced (under 30-40) servo on amazon I should check out? Maybe the same one but higher kg? Like the 25
