I heard Mike Katz is pretty stoked on the oval idea! I guess I'd give it a try based on how badly Katz wants to try it.

As someone who has ran a lot of dirt-oval with my slash at Racers Haven I can tell you it's one of the funnest crazyiest racing you can have. But the downside is you WILL get your sct broken more often.

By the way and I'll say it again: I had a lot fun at your guys short course race.

Hope to see some of you again at the West Coast RC race.

Well we'd obviously have to get Garret on board. We'd have to come up with a quick rule set on tires. Motors would be the same deal I'd imagine as they are now, stock / mod. I think most peeps have an old set of tires they can grind down or just run box stock. Something that allows the car to stay loose and slide. Big thing would be the KISS theory. Keep It Simple Stupid and make it so people didn't have to do anything to their cars, just strap the suspension down, throw on some old tires and run.

Say it did happen, what would everyone run?

I honestly would try running my TC3 with some treaded street tires. I know they've been converted to rally cars. Guess it depends on how smooth the oval would come out.

The ThunderPower cat suggested strapping down the suspension on SCT's which would be easy enough. I don't know how a 2wd buggy would work but I think the 4wd buggies would be a blast with some street style tires for getting a little sideways.

Might be a sharp learning curve drifting the car correctly but I'm sure most would catch on quickly.

its a banked dirt oval with a SC track in the center. small but alot of fun with a great relaxec enviroment. full pits with tables and power indoors outta the sun and they have there own transponder system. good cheap fun and good chill vibe.

Saw this from another thread, a indoor track in AZ. Could be a way to attract more on road peeps to get their cars drifting on dirt track, who knows?

I think an oval could be fun but dont think there is enough room at 702. Way back we raced at a track with the an oval with the infield as a offroad track. It was fun at first but didnt last long. I dont think Garret will ever please everyone but I do think that he needs to try to find a happy medium for the sc and the buggies. Vegas has seen many tracks come and go and I dont want to see this become one of them. The SC championship was awesome . My opinion is Garret needs to run all the races the way he did that one. It amazes me how people do not turn marshal or will not even volunter to marshal if the race before did not have alot of entries.Even have seen people go home after their race (not cool)The system of your car number was your marshal spot was awesome, only one change to that ,maybe every race move one number spot up so no one is stuck at a tough or easy spot for more than one heat. We all need to support this track and the owner does need to listen to the racers as well. And anyone that may ask do I help, I have given Garret my # and would help any time with anything.

I agree, I think if he did do a layout with an oval it should only be around for a limited time. Bring it back every 6 months maybe when everyone gets the hankering for some more oval.

I thought for a while you weren't even suppose to go back to the pit after your race, they had the shelves there to set your radio and car and hit the track to marshall.

numbered cones work good but you only see that for big races. I like the idea of moving them I have been at big races and hated the spot and would be stuck with it for the day.

All in all, 702 is a great track and I look foward to seeing new track designs and racing on them. There are a lot of great people there and it is definitely important to support your local hobby shop and we are lucky enough to have an indoor track! Pretty soon it's going to be in the triple digits and it's going to be great to be out of the sun racing cars in the air conditioning.

Let's face it, racing is racing and what's hot right now are Short Course trucks. With that being said, I have no issues with running my T4 at the track and the buggies that have been out there with me don't have any issues either. The only issues come from the people who can't drive and have to complain but oh well, it's on them and they are greatly out-numbered.

Drove by Katz's house yesterday. He lowered in RB5 SP2, put up two cones in the street and was practicing oval!
