So could you split the shell into sections (left side, right side, hood, etc) and lay down the designs (each section one cut)?? Will painters tape or masking tape pull cleanly off of vinyl if you wanted to join to sections together like say a design on the side to one on the nose?
Cutting the vinyl is a very last resort for me , sometimes tweaking and stretching gets the job done . I use Greenstar clear transfer tape

Never tried using masking tape for transfer tape .

Start to more and more bodies that need numbers or word added to the schemes and maybe its time to invest in a cutter/plotter, what info you guy have on this unit.

I don't own one, but pretty sure the Roland's are top notch. Your link is for the stand though not the cutter...

I have this and it IS the best cutter u have used. I have used a USCutter, a Graphtec, and Gx24. The GX is my favorite from cut quality to preciseness, to overall feel.

I'm using a USCutter stand and its $100. Works fine with Industrial double sided tape with the GX24.

For $1700.00 the gx24 better be good! I got my uscutter new off eBay with the stand and shipping for $300. Aside from the fact I NEED to use windows xp to operate it...it's already paid for itself several times over

I use a USCutter LP24 and is it ok. The stepper motor cutters are not a good and precise as the servo cutters. Problem with the servo cutters are they are a lot more expensive. If you can get the stepper motor cutters dialed in they will work for what we need. The detail work will not be as good as the servo cutters. I eventually want to invest in a servo but for that kind of scratch it will be a while

Chris/Charlie: I know that the GX24 is a superior cutter, but how was the small details as in difficulty to weed. I know it will be hard being it's smaller, but could you pull the mask off without trimming. Am I making sense? The size I am talking about is around .13 which is just a little larger then 1/8"

With my cutter I do not get really clean cuts. I have to do a little cutting when weeding.

Even budget cutters like the USCutter SC can cut fine detail if set up right

For RC cutting, the UScutter Laserpoint does just fine. I have used my laserpoint for over 5 years and made thousands of masks with them. It all depends on your budget and what you are willing to spend. Again, for 99% of your cutting needs, the $300 Laserpoint will do the job.

For the most pat I do not have a ton of issues. I am trying to get it dialed in. The cuts do not 100% close! but it is close.

What I am curious of is words that are .13" tall. I try cutting them this small with mixed results. Maybe it is just because they are that small that makes it so difficult to weed and cut
