Ah yes! The poor guy just couldn't figure out why his paint was matte. We should have taken a pic.
Looks great Jody. Every time I look at your stuff, I keep telling myself, "...must get vinyl cutter soon. Must get vinyl cutter soon..." Your stuff is just so squeaky clean. I love the logos and lettering painted instead of stickers. Gotta get myself a vinyl cutter so I can do that too.
thanks..if you ever need any mask .i do sell them...

Awesome Nascar body, your stuff is always very nice!
But....
I am not a paint it all kind of guy, although there is more money in it that way for me(...All of us), lol.
I just think the time and effort for a body that will be torn up after a few races on the track, makes it difficult to justify the expense of an all out concours replica shell that by all rights should be $150-200.00 or more.
Especially when you consider that even the fullsize race cars use stickers, most of their designs are not painted.
I guess the plus side is being able to make your own logos and do things that there are no stickers available for, or making something really unique.
To each his own, especially when it comes to custom paint!

[QUOTE=Kcdzim;5864314]Marbelling is easily done. Simply lay plastic wrap over the well painted area, smoosh around, and peel off. Or dab at it with balled plastic wrap, but I prefer the texture from smooshing the plastic around when it's laid on.
Always paint dark colors first, light colors last. In your case, a heavy green coat, marble it with plastic wrap, back with black. Then peel remaining masking and paint the white (pactra white, or tamiya, or whatever I assume. Do NOT EVER EVER paint pactra white fluorescent cover coat directly to clear lexan, it does NOT bond. It bonds ONLY to paint already down, such as a flourescent color.) If you cannot paint dark to light for some reason (there are occasions) back light with a coat of white and then a coat of silver. Then you can paint dark colors.
Also, you do realize you are painting the INSIDE of the shell, not the outside? I've had a friend paint the outside, not realizing the point of clear lexan. We mocked him. A lot.

lol yes, i know to paint the inside. and just to clear it all up. for the grren marble on black, i would simply spray one heavy coat of the green in the desired areas, then mess with it with the plastic wrap. then i would go back and spray the rest with the black? and that could do the whole body? (btw, i will be using can paint, no airbrush for me just yet)
