no, you can't marble white effectively. In order to look right, the color should be transparent/ candy.

You could marble it with black. Real wet opaque white, blotch with plastic then spray black once dry. I did it on a plastic sheet to test awhile back. I did it with black once on a body. Looked really good in person...pics was hard to see.

You can technically do it using white but it would have to be the 2nd color as it would be the filler, though it would likely flatten the initial color a bit. I would suggest trying a 2 color marble effect and then hitting it with white as the filler. This would add some depth for sure.

Some techniques are actually discovered purely by accident so don't be scurrrred to try something different. Use crap pieces of lexan to test different things on.

As written yesterday, this is my first can job, I was thinking about making that white/silver marlbe effect on the bonnet, but I'll see what comes up after the tests.

Believe it or not, I've been reading the entries of this thread posted since 2011, it was great to see how the techniques and trends in painting have changed and evolved. It was inspiring.

Sorry for the bad quality pictures.

edit : pics are big.. sorry about that.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it
I still have a lot to learn. I have to work on the thickness of paint layers. I'm often struggling to peel off the mask after several layers of paint...

I wish I could afford an airbrush. I really miss shadows in my paintjobs. Maybe some day...

Very nice paint jobs on this forum. I wanted to ask what type of coating can you spray on the inside of the body to help prevent paint scratches?

What could be a nice looking colour to try the marble effect on the bonnet ? The main color will be white. Maybe I should try silver ?
It can be done with pearl white and white but the effect is subtle, I did this several yrs ago with these colors.

A nice little family photo. All paint every pain staking bit and no stickers. It's a pitty camera's do no justice for this blue.
