Default 5B needed upgrades

What are some upgrades that are needed on the 5Bs?

Or just some good to have.

Ill be subscribing to this one. I've found out a air filter and pre filter is good. And a pipe of course. Mine is only a 23cc though.

I might get the RB Innovations air filter which forces air into the engine for more power.

I know I'm skeptical but I have a hard time believing that ad. I run a aluminum adapter that's smooth and an 1.5" if I remember right and an uni clamp on filter. Like a motorcycle. I started with one that's 1.25" but wanted bigger for more air.

I also tried the ddm dominator side mount pipe. And an engage RC pipe that's looks like an ss pipe with a side bleed. Now I'm getting ready to try the ss pipe.

Default Upgrades

Hotrod-
Do not try the SS pipe, its worthless if you've run a Dominator.....No low end at all.

#1 pre-filter for the pull start
#2 Fail-Safe
#3 One of the recommended tuned pipes, I prefer the Dominator v1 or v2
#4 Hostile MX rear tires
#5 HD Beadlock rings

I'm sure there are others that people recommend, but generally, just replace parts as they break with upgraded items

#1 should be a failsafe.
#2 Killer RC suspension cables.
#3 Outerwears for pullstart and airfilter.
The list goes on, but I would start there. Join HPIBajaForums if you haven't already, lots of info!

Replace the clutch carrier with a quality aluminum one..either open or enclosed and address the stock pinion bolt as it likes to snap in stock form..

I ran the pinion bolt in from the backside and out a nut on the outside and have not had any problems with it.

I don't think that's a good idea.

The more info you can give us, the better we'll be able to help you. Where will you be using your Baja; dirt, grass, and/or sand? Are you planning to install a high HP engine in the near future? Are you a basher, or a racer?

#1, above all else, you should have a remote kill switch

#2, outerwears prefilters for your air filter, and pullstarter, and crankcase to protect your pullstarter in even the dustiest conditions

#3, upgrade the stock plastic clutch bearing carrier with a metal one, be shure to get an enclosed version if you'll be running in sand

The best upgrade is a kill switch, then taking that crap RB filter off and going with a stock filter with a redneck and Outerwears on it. Then just upgrade as it breaks, a good pipe is always another good upgrade to have as well.

Interesting. I joined the other one and they seem very biased. Had a thread deleted because I asked about an engage RC pipe I have.

So I just took off the engage RC pipe I have. I tried the ss pipe I have sounds good but a little loud for me. Lost alot of bottom end. May have gained a little top end. So far out if the three the dominator pipe runs best. Good bottom and great top. Just not sure I like the pipe running down the side of my machine.
