Anyone knows a r7 conrod can be used in the latest cxr21 on road engine?

The part number differs ... unless you know, if there is a way to measure it, otherwise stick with RB CONCEPT CONROD 01122-C.

choisan 05-04-2014 05:55 AM

Thanks bro, rb parts are rarely found in my country.
But my most concern are the sizes of its bearings. Are they also the same as NR, special size?

We are lucky to have a distributor here, Hobbylink Singapore. Maybe can contact them.

Again, I advise to measure them first to be safe. According to their website, their rear is 14.5 and front 7x 19 Z special.. that's all. I think Nova have these sizes, but measure them to be safe.

From what I know, in the past RB was Nova based, till a couple or more years back (not verified). They also kinda lost focus on On-road and do Off-road more. The parts now are different and so hard to get in this part of the world. Nonetheless, they produced good engines.

choisan 05-04-2014 07:47 AM

thanks! yeah, i hate the odd size super expensive bearing. this is why they(NR & RB) lost customer.
bro, you don't come to hk for thre km hijacked femca?:)

LOL... Nope. But I missed racing in HK at the old ACO track.

The R7 is the same rod but only the hole for the crankpin differs. A Nova is 5.00mm and the RB is a tiny bit larger, I believe 5.02mm

I did it once:

http://www.euronet.nl/users/tooms/evo5/motor5.jpg

An 5mm diamond dremel bit did fit tight in the hole and just with 3 counts powered by a Dremel it did fit the RB crankpin.

choisan 05-04-2014 05:04 PM

We have only 1 GP track left here
, but it's still a good track.

Thanks so much for your help. Any comment on its featured direct intake system? Seems exclusive for or from rb.
But the expensive scares me away from not buying it yet

Roelof 05-05-2014 12:29 AM

Give it a name and it is exclusive? All engines are basicly the same (in disign) so you do not have to worry you will change a thing.

choisan 05-05-2014 03:42 AM

Understand that, but I think the odd size bearing is exclusive unless I can dremel out the little piece from the engine housing

Roelof 05-05-2014 08:00 AM

I have seen that, the Novarossi Virtus has the same bearing. It is an expensive bearing and imo it is just to keep the support (no other bearing manufacturer is making these bearings so far I know). That is also why RB is using a different size crankpin.
Sad that RB is now also using these bearings....

As mentioned in the Novarossi topics, I would take out the edge in the crankcase so a normal bearing will fit when I am in the need of a new bearing.

Replacing expensive bearing

Hello Roelof ,

To replace this special bearing do I need special tool or I can replace it like old school ? As I will receive it in few days for my virtus .

Thank you

Roelof 05-05-2014 10:28 AM

Replacing it can be done in every same way you are used to do.

choisan 05-05-2014 04:08 PM

Thanks Roelof.

I'm having trouble finding the answer. I have a R3 engine that needs a rod soon. Which Nova will work. Can't cross reference anywhere. tia

Fly'n Fish 06-06-2014 01:51 AM

Hi all, can anyone give me any clue as to how good an engine an RB C10 is? I picked one up in a chassis an I can seem to find much about it anywhere. Good, bad? opinions please!

JamesHealey 06-12-2014 11:59 AM

Good 9 port Novarossi based engine, don't know how you will do for getting any spares for it these days probably at least a 4 year old engine.

If it's in good condition, run in properly and has good compression.

Should be an awesome engine!

tonyhalandri 06-13-2014 12:12 PM

I have a C10 in my collection ..it's a very powerfull engine production date 2010.
This is a C10 engine from greek nationals 2010

Re: glow plug help!

My brother has an old RB Speedling Matrix (Sirio based). It came standard with a RB 01051-6 (CP-02 Series) turbo plug. Wondering if the newer 01052-6 (V3) is compatiable? Are all RB plugs re-badged Novarossi? I am kinda confused cause i knew Sirio had a different taper on it.... or was that Picco! :S

Thanks in advance!
Andrew

This is probably a odd question for you guys but, will the RB speed .12 3 port engine be good in a off road Gas truck? Thanks

DaRaceMasta 11-07-2014 03:36 PM

RB Products SPEED .21 Limited Edition 7-Port On-Road Engine

has anyone tried one of these engines?? and if what are the pros and cons of it..

azeroth 11-09-2014 09:35 PM

i have a speed 21 13 edition good power but i had some issues( possible owner malfuntion) but my speed .12 has 2 seasons and is going strong

JamesHealey 11-10-2014 12:45 PM

The RB Speed .21 engines are essentially a reissue of the RB C6 CC engine which was a very good 7 port engine, it's got plenty of top end and a reasonable bottom end, for the price it's a very good engine.

RB have discontinued the RB Speed though, so you will not be able to get a new piston/liner for this engine any more, rod and bearings are still readily available though as they're used in other engines.

l3asher 11-10-2014 07:31 PM

I have an RB Speed 21 NIB I'd like to sale, looking for $150 plus shipping. I'm an off road guy and this is just a paper weight. I won it at off road race (Southern Nats), I have no idea why they gave me an on road engine at an off road race.

You can always fit a Novarossi P/S set. Only the centerpin is on the other side so you have to make a new cut in the upper edge of the sleeve.

JamesHealey 11-11-2014 11:32 AM

Which Novarossi P/S set would fit the RB Speed? they don't make anything like it in their own range of engines as far as I can see?

Roelof 11-11-2014 12:27 PM

If it has a 3mm upper edge I think you do need something like a REX 321, or even a 35-plus-21, If it has a 2mm edge something like a Kangaroo, N21-7T etc.

JamesHealey 11-18-2014 11:40 AM

Surely it can't be as simple as just finding a sleeve with the right thickness rim?

Are the exhaust ports lined up with the crank case tunnels properly? is the crank shaft going to be timed right for the ports on that sleeve?

Sounds like a bit of a botch job to me, RB suggested that the RB C9 sleeve would work with the Speed, but once again I had my reservations about it being ideal.

ket2175 11-24-2014 06:42 PM

Hi guys , newbie to nitro onroad. I just bought a 2nd hand Serpent 966, and it came with a RB Classico 10 engine. How is this engine by the way, as I cant find much review about this engine.

Roelof 11-25-2014 01:20 AM

The engine is no winner but for sure also not a looser. In the hands of an avarage racer it is fast.

JamesHealey 11-25-2014 02:22 AM

The Classico 10 is a great engine, I've raced against people using it when I've had the RB CX in my car which is a better engine, and they've not in any way seemed to lack power.

I don't think it's got the torque and bottom end grunt of the better RB engines but it's for sure a good engine!

ket2175 11-27-2014 06:29 PM

Ok noted, thanks both for the reply. Think I will run it first for the time begins, and will get the RB CX engine in future.

JamesHealey 11-29-2014 12:22 PM

The CX is no longer available, you would be looking at getting one of the following, the Ielasi tuned versions are generally finished off where machines can't finish things as well as someone by hand can, improved fuel flow and maybe a shaving of the crank shaft to increase the timing etc.

CXR LS7 Ielasi Tuned
CXR SLS9 Ielasi Tuned
CXR SLS9
CXR SLS DI9

Roelof 11-29-2014 12:30 PM

I had an Ielasi for a break in so I did had a closer look to it, it had for sure no extra timing.

tq23 11-30-2014 05:50 AM

Hi guys, just wondering has anyone tried the CXR and TXR Ielasi Tuned engines? How do they fair? And what base are these engines based on? I know they are Nova based, but which engine? Any feedback are welcomed. Thanks!

JamesHealey 12-02-2014 12:09 PM

The closest Novarossi engine would probably be the Novarossi Keep-On going on purely specs alone, but someone with more experience with Novarossi engines could maybe confirm this? I've only experience with RB.

When you refer to timing, are you talking about crankshaft opening and closing or height of ports? Thanks in advance.
