you usually use the hottest plug(s) available from the range of turbo plugs available for Nova engines. reason being is the original lineup was designed for big blocks (.21s and .15s) and so they may be "colder" than what you would normally use for small block .12s (dunno if novarossi has updated their lineup, but this holds true of traditionally).

in essense though, yes the tuning of turbo plugs is similar/same as standard plugs. only difference is what i've stated above.

most race engines now (including your NSR) have more aggressively designed internals made for running higher nitro blends. so if you are having slight tuning problems it could be that your nitro content is too low.

Download the exploded view for your particular engine and buy the complete set or individual items you need.

Hey guys I've raced modded Sirrio's Mugen Mts and RB's for the past 4 years.
Got my hands on a NovaRossi RS-12-S1 it also says ROAR AND IFMAR LEGAL ,Batch number N1090/03CE production date 2003. Is this any good? is it worth sendiing out for modding? Looking for new outlaw engine for short track. Any help would be nice. What's the difference between S1 and S3? Thanks Bob

If I remember correctly, S1 is SG crank, not sure S3 is standard crank or it has to do with SLIDE carb or Rotary Carb....
I know T = Port, like yours, probably RS12 T5 S1 or T3 S1....good and crazy engines for small track/mid track.

bbntc3 03-09-2005 04:35 PM

Its s/g shaft with slide carb for sure 3 port.
We only race NTC3 that's where it may go or in my onroad RC10GT. Hell my kid is a quality driver with nothing but high end engines. Once you have unlimited HP you can never go back to those stock thingys mate!

Wow, thats like stuffing in a TRx 2.5 with a better powerband in the GT if you'd want to stuff it in the GT. Better leave it in the NTC3 :).

What's the difference between the NS12S3 and the NS12S3/A1? I've tryed to find some info with no luck. Thanks for any help.

SalvadoriRacing 03-17-2005 05:40 AM

I don't think the A1 version is being produced anymore.....

this version was made to accord with roar rules, that didn't allow turbo glowplugs........ and this rule doesn't exist anymore......

the A1 version has standard glowplug.......

A1 = bigger cooling head(11 fin) and silicon on the crankshaft.

Striker 03-18-2005 07:28 PM

The box mine came in said ns12s3/a1. My engine has a standard plug, 9 fins and no silicon. I bought the engine new from a friend. It had been taken out of the box. He's a good person, so I know he didn't change anything. Maybe the wrong engine was put in the box in the first place.

I have no complantes with my engine. I was just wondering how it differed from the other ns12s3. Thanks for the help.

SalvadoriRacing 03-18-2005 07:31 PM

as i wrote before......

the A1 is 2003 ROAR Legal engine.....standard plug.....no silicone, standard 9 ribs head......

That is what you wrote before. Nothing is said of number of fins, or silicon. You did say twice though, that it took a standard plug.
