Yup same engine. What you do get a deal off Ebay?? LOL!! I thought I did!!
I don't know what to tell ya on the crank. We have'nt ran a stock engine in 4 years, and don't think we ever will again. So I guess I'll sell it for what I paid for it, or maybe get a crank when Palmaris has them. |
Anyone know of a .12 Nova that can put up good competition with an RB V12 3 port rody turbo? I don't think the Sirio can, but maybe the NS12.

If you are looking for a modded Nova as the Rody is modded, The hot mod is faster than the Rody. Murnan modded Mugen is just as good if not better. Before you ask, yes, I do own all three of these engines. The best part with the Murnan and the Hotmod is that the guys that do the mod are in the USA. Easier to get replacement parts and support.
If you want to get a stock Nova, the NSR and the RR are the current Nova fast engines. There is a new Nova engine, I think it is called the N12L, coming very soon. For the same money, call Nitrohouse and get a Hotmod. |
Hmm, so pretty much a regular NS12 won't run with the Rody? Damn. How about any other brand of engines? I don't want to over do the spending, but it was said the RB V12 5 port has as much power as the Rody. Dunno how thats possible, but thats what it's saying at the site. For the price I'd like that.

I would'nt think your hurting at that price for the engine, hell that price won't hardly buy an OS. Even if you bought a crank from Palmaris you still would'nt have the list price of a Nova.
As far as plugs not sure but, I use RBs, Mugens, and Sirios and run 30% fuel and Nova plugs 7's and 8's medium/cold depending on outside temp. |

I think that may be my next engine as I'd hate to pay $300+ for a Rody engine even if it's legal. I just can't do it. Surely I can get something more powerful than the MT12, but it has to be around the 1.4HP range or so more powerful. That would be great :). For the price the TZ isn't bad for my track, which doesn't follow roar rules. |
Anyone tried the new Nova's? The short stroke N12LS5 or the long stroke N12LL5. Seems like power packed according to the specs in the Novarossi website.
|
New novas are not available in the USA yet.
|
Is the nova NS12S5 JP modded as fast as the Hot Mod??
|
I would be willing to bet that a NS12S5 hot mod would be faster than the same engine modded by JP.

whats the proper shim clearance for a mr-12 with 30% nitro?
|
stock nova based .12's are around 0.018" (0.03mm). Thats not the shim size- it's the head button to piston clearance. Each set varies a little with manufacturers.
I usually measure my clearance by taking the head off and placing a small ball size piece of clay on the head button. Re assemble the engine and rotate it only one time. Take the head off again and measure the thickness of the clay with some calipers. I would think you are good with 0.015"- 0.018" running 30%. |
