then in the 4th rd went with the keep on got a bit more faster made 1 mistake but still got the Tq 34 laps 7:09
Both motors ran great the pt seemed to have a bit more top
The Keep on had more bottom but felt the same to compare top end all in all you can't go wrong either way
Yeah that PT was flying! The KEEP ON, well lets just say there was some magic happening on the in-field. Enough magic that mine are on there way. Good run George!

Default Broken pistons

Anyone know what causes the bottom part of the piston to breakup. We had two engines one week apart where the piston has broken the skirt all the way up to the bottom of the piston pin. The rod was damaged but still in one piece. Both engines a Nova's, one a 353 and the other a Flash .12. Both engines were running OK and slightly rich as opposed to lean. Both about 18 months old but in good condition and running well before the failures.

i have dropped the skirt off 2 pistons both 353 and flash.
i run at brendale
first one the bearing in the lay shaft dropped causing the second gear to move on the back straight OVER rev .. dropped skirt after 2 runs
the second was stripped 2nd gear at the end of the back straight . broke it the following run

this is just my experience

No stripped gears or dropped bearings on the two engines, just stopped and on restart attempt the engine was difficult to start but started, half a lap later "pop". Engine seized and piston skirt found smashed off. The flash had run a perfect 20 min B final just before, very strange two engines same failure mode. Only common thing both about 18 months old.

My PTS done exactly the same thing never even raced it just in testing & it wasn't even quick.
Running those OTHER engines now and very happy

Default Nova Star

I have a Nova Star (Nova Rossi made for HPI).21 Needs a Piston/sleave and cumbustion chamber. Anyone know of original or newer parts that might fit?

Thanks,
Ron T.

What fin header would give you the best runtime for a .12, a 6 or 5 ?

The sleeve is so far I know a 7-port sleeve with just 1 exhaust port (no 2 small additional exhaust ports). Bit I wonder if it is a longstroke (16.8 x 16.2) engine or a square stroke (16.4 x 16.4). In case of a long stroke something like a Kangaroo P/S set will fit.
Beside that I wonder what the size of the crankpin is, older engines have a smaller crankpin.

But a P/S/R set can go up to 170-200 dollars while a new engine will cost uou 250-300 dollar. Be wise and get a new one.

I think you will be dissapointted if you expect to achieve longer runtime only by using 6 or 5 fins manifold.

I think you should consider to use pipe ( 2630 ) and non-conical manifold to achieve longer runtime.

6 fins probably will get micro seconds longer runtime than 5 fins. ..... however, ... I'm just guessing with assumption : longer manifold = less top end rpm. Probably I need second opinion for this answer.

Thumbs up 2630 pipe

i think the 2630 has been replaced with 2660 or some thing like that we were told that the later pipe made more power and we still got run time it was recommended by cap/aus it was used by them all last year we ran 353 n over /5 fin conical header
