The original idea was to lighten the crank and silicone putty was a good way of filling the hole left from drilling.Manufacturers noticed a positive effect in shaping the silicone. Thats why MAX is still using 14mm crankshafts and not the 14.5mm

The use of putty is not to save on tooling wear. shaping the crank in its original form rather than using silicone is pointless as the original objective was to lighten the crank in aid of quicker spooling .:nod:;)

Max power used the 14mm crank because they required more mass on the delivery end so that there efforts to balance the crank was easier to achieve . |

Reduce weight reduces mass ,reduce mass reduces weight.mass is the total matter.;) reducing either reduces both |
I don't really care about ramp vs. no ramp.... these engines make more power than 95% of drivers can use. My point is that if the silicon comes loose while running- kiss your engine bye bye....it will hose the p/s and likely the rear bearing at least.

lets end all this speculation and theorys on why Novarossi use this silicon in the shafts. To quote them on their web site, The inlet has a silicon filling to reduce the weight of the crankshaft to improve acceleration. Go to Novarossi site click on Nova Flash engine then click features and this is under crankshaft. Regards Martin.

As also they let you think you need 9 intake ports to go fast....... Yes, they never gonna tell they have found a cheaper production to make more profit. No, they tell you the new piston is better and the filling works better..... Ok, lets end this but Alex Siddique is right about rotating mass.... |
Does somone know if the Nova head buttons 28022 and 28022/01 are interchangable? The 28022 is specified for the 35+21 Collari Cordoba and the 28022/01 for the Collari 09 or the Flash. Can not see a difference between them...

I found that when turning the crank by hand it seamed a bit notchy, so I tore it completely apart. I did not find there to be any slop in the conrod to crank bushing but I am just a bit worried about the orange colour.

I've ran about 3 gallons of Byrons Gen 2 in my engine and it looked nothing like this. I'm surprised there isn't more damage .. |
