can somebody please help me out with some info on the different rods R7, R5 and R4.

Do theY all fit the same engines?

THX

I know the R7 is a stronger replacement for the R5. Also the R stands for 5mm crankpinand. In a N21-3T Basic engine there is a R2 mounted and could be replaced with a R7 so yes, I think the R4 has the same sizes.

I do believe the number indicates the strength because the R4 I have seen in older engines as I have seen one in a current offroad engine and the R2 was quickly broken when the N21-3T was tuned up to real performance.

Please anybody! Are OS or RB turbo glow plugs compatible with Novarossi engines?

I'm waiting for my Toro Nero specially for the nationals, but can't get the plugs in time and the only thing we've got over here are OS's and RB's.

I run Nova plugs in my RB, so I would say yes. Also, just make sure it's the short plug and you should be fine. One of my RB's came with a Nova 6 turbo plug...I guess that's the answer right there.

RB - Yes
OS - NO, not the same taper

I was wondering could anyone explain the way the carbon is building-up on the piston and button in the Murnan 35+21 Rex I'm running? And if it's normal?

I'm having a problem with the engine not staying in tune. It can be tuned to run brilliantly, but then will on occasion begin to go rich or lean within the space of a few laps or 5 minutes. Sometimes after letting the engine cool down, and restarting it, (and it being brought back up to normal temperature etc..) it will have gone very rich without anything being different.

On the exhaust port side, there is a lot of carbon which makes sense, but on the opposite side the piston and button get gradually cleaner to the point where there is no carbon build-up at all. It seems strange that there's such a difference.

I've attached photos, but if they're not clear enough let me know and I'll upload new ones. They were taken following 1 days worth of running since the piston and button had been cleaned.

Thanks!

How many shimm does a 353 09 have thickness wise stock? and how many shimm should you add when using a 20% nitro? Many thanks.

it should be shim for 16%....it has one silver shim which is .2, to shim it for 20% add .1 which is a copper shim....for 25-30% go with .2...that should work fine.

09 plus12-3sct vs 353 race 12

Just picked up a new '09 plus12-3sct. From what I understand the 09 353's rev abit higher, but the plus 12-3sct has better low to mid range power.

What makes them different?
1) Timing on the crank?
2) Exhaust port timing?
3) Transfer Timing?
4) Piston Material (microcast vs billet)?

Does anyone know the reason for the new case on the 353 '09, from the pictures posted all the top Novarossi guys were running with a grey case instead of the black that sells.

Or is it another 353 '09 to come with the original Purple head ?

It is giving you the information that a black crankcase is not giving more performance. Most factory drivers I have seen are running gray crankcases.

..so we are paying extra money for the coating....

Now that is interesting, but is it the coating or something internal that's giving the performance benefit ?

What are the US Team Drivers like DJ and Josh using ?
