Hello, i am in the process of breaking in my new Nova .12 class engine. After i pressed the car on the starter box, what is the right procedure? rev up the engine? & for how long? Cos when i press the throttle, the engine die out a few seconds later. I do not know if i am running it too rich/lean. sometimes it takes a long time(few seconds) for the car to move. Then the engine dies again the moment i release the throttle. I do see a plume of smoke whenever i run the car. Do i look at the density of the smoke to determine it's richness? Even if the engine is too lean, is there any smoke? When do i know if the engine is already broken in? I have heard that the break in is very important. It will determine the longevity & performance of the engine. How do i tell if i have done a good job on the break-in? Please help me. Thank You.

You should read this: http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=166838

I think it will answer most of your questions.

Does anybody know the Exaust port opening angle for a Novarossi 35PLUS21. It should be between 70 and 105 deg.

I am trying to design an exhaust for my car

Cheers

hey guys, what are the differences between a 353 and a 12-3SCT?

obviously the extra $$ is for the extra motor you recieve in the package, and the 353 is a newer engine, but is it actually better then the 12-3SCT??

i've read different reviews that some say the 353 has a 11.9mm and others say a 11.5mm diameter...

The only other difference i could find were the extra holes in the 353 sleeve

Tossing up spending $390US for a 12-3SCT or $529US for a 353

IMO the performance is the same, the only thing: are you willing to pay 130 extra for a nice performing training motor ?

Have you run both motors? Just wondering cause I haven't heard from anyone who has. I've seen a few plus 12's and they seems plenty quick. Haven't seen a side-by-side run between a plus 12 car and a 353 car but I just can't imagine that the 353 is significantly faster. Maybe a little but I don't think it's worth the price tag. That's why i'm getting a plus 12. (Most places are out of stock right now and they're waiting for a shipment that's supposed to come at the end of the month). I've also read that the little bit extra you pay for the plus 12 tuned version is worth the money so that's what i'm getting.

i've driven a ct tunned and a 353.

Both are quick but the plus has alot more bottom end punch. The 353 is smoother.

I have heard the same thing from the .21 motors too.

i ran my plus 12 3sct today for the first time in a race. i have been running the IDM EVO 3. the gearing i left as it was. the bottom end on this motor is great, i had to tighten the 2 speed a little, but the top end , wow. i was running out of track to keep it on throttle. much more to go . but never had any issues at all with the motor, was veryhappy. although i had issues with the car itself, i did manage to set the fastest lap of the day.

do you recon the 353 pack is a smart way for nova to get rid of old parts stock and charge a pritty good price for it too boot?

same here, can't see how the 353 performance engine is heaps better than the 3SCT.

also, an above poster said the 353 power delivery is smoother. this can be acheived in a way by smoothing out the turbo scoop into the crank hole i think right? maybe the 353 performance 12 has a smoother flow cut into it.

Well, not really. I think it was an experiment to see if that's what people want. In reality, it would probably be a good idea for me to run one motor at my club races and then have the plus 2 for the "big" races. But, my club races can be pretty competetive so I think I would probably run the "other" motor once, get smoked, and strap in the plus 2. I just don't know if the "other" motor would be "fast" enough to be worth anything to me and I think most guys think the same thing. The sad part is that the "other" motor is probably just fine for my club races but that's too much money to gamble with and i'm not that lucky.

Motors are not compleetly the same, like the kind of ports in the R&B C5 are never been seen in the other brands. Also the port and crankshaft timing makes the differences onder the hood like JP is always going for high poorts for more rpm's
