Nope... the infamous notice to the dealers were because in some batch of Mugen USA they found some conrods that weren't up to spec, this caused a complete recall of ALL the engines, they were revised and the conrods are fine. If I blew the conrod of this engine, the dealer told me he will stand up (the same goes for the importer - which by casuality is a friend of the childhood). No fear to blow a conrod, shit happens everywhere. ;)

News from Hong Kong, the recalled On Road 21 were ready to sell back to customers, but bad news being that, those engines were just replaced the sleeves, pistons and crankshafts mainly.
However, the fatal and crucial screw up from the only distributor, they had wrongly put the off-road's sleeve(5 port), piston and crankshaft into those engine. Many customers found out and returned(refunded) them.

Well I've seen 6 Ninja engines running this weekend in the 2nd round of the Dutch championship......
2 Engine were from team drivers, RickV and Michiel R
Those were fast, and yes, just as fast as any other top of the line engine.....

But then the other 4 engines which were the stock ones.....

I'm not impressed yet.....
Not that the performance is not ok, but I've seen drivers struggeling with engines which were running to lean and a minute later the were running very rich........

But as the drivers just received there engine 2 days before the event, they didn't really have time to build a good driver/engine relationship..... :)

Really I don't know about those 'team engines' but, what I've seen yesterday was really impressive regarding their performance, in fact the combo of a Mugen MRX4/4-R and the Ninja engine was really tough to beat. To put into few words what was seen on all the weekend.

Saturday: The top 4 qualifiers (direct to final) were 3 Mugen/Ninja and 1 Serpent 960/JP.
Sunday: After the final (45 minutes). The top 5 were Mugen/Ninja engines. A 960/JP finished on finished on 6th position due to a crash on the final minutes (around the minute 40), but some seconds ago was running hard and giving some great spectacle fighting for the first places.

If the appearance of a 400Euro engine putting into problems to >600Euro mills isn't great for you, I don't know what could be fine for you. 1/8 On-Road engines are overly inflated on their price and the Ninjas are here for showing that cheaper engines could stand and hang without problems with more expensive and 'better breed' engines (name them: JP/Nova/Max/...).

P.D: The unique 'mods' to those engines was a pair of 0.10mm shims to raise the combustion chamber, the short manifold and the stock pipe. Enough for me.

Yes, lower engine prices would be great, and I also believe that they have the knowledge to overcome these "problems".....
Don't forget, I run Mega/Picco engines, and for what I've seen, the DSII is also a great engine, and that for 320 Euro.......

There was definately a difference in performance between the "stock" and "team" engines, but this also just might be some tunning stuff.....

RickV drove a box stock Ninja 4 weeks ago in the first round, which was performing a lot different from what he drove now......

But I support the idea of that teamdrivers run different engines, or maybe better tunned ones, so they gather/test the knowledge to be put in future engines.......

The first round of the dutch championship was won by Mugen/Novarossi-35plus (Jack Ermen) just a few second in front of a Mugen/Ninja (RickV).
This second round it was (almost) the other way around... 1 RickV, 2 John Ermen (Jack's brother)
Last Year When RickV was still with Serpent and for the first time drove the 960/Mega combo he won with 2 laps difference and that was on the same track we drove this weekend...........

So if you only look at those figures, 960/Mega is the combo to go for or not?...

But I think that the Ninja but certainly the 35 plus is faster then a Mega ZX, (not a Mega MF, but they are not cheap......)...
But still the price difference for me keeps me with Mega........

Do you guys know what glow plugs they used ?? Ninja or others. tks

Use the Ninja ones, lately, the QC of the Nova plugs leave so much to desire.

The motors ran in florida state race May 20-21 and had an alright showing. Juaqin Desoto the owner of RCP ran them but was average in its first showing. Chuck Moon ran one and it was also just average compared to the Mega DSII of Paolo Morganti and Scotty Gray. The number one mugen driver in Florida Phillip Abed ran a Ninja for only for the last qualifier to pull it out and replace it with a 35plus and than he won the race.

The person I know who ran one said they were good motors but lacked the bottom end and rip of a 35plus and went back to the old faithful when the stuff hit the fan. Maybe they need more time with the motos to figure them out and get the to run. They are a good value and would be a great step for the hobby as far as prices go..
