Running rich keeps the enging at lower temps and at lower temps the piston gets more pinch which will give wear on the piston to fit itself to that size of sleeve. Running with that same rich setting is no issue but running at full performance will give the effect of a worn engine. That is also explaining the bad idea to break in an engine in the winter and use it in the summer. well your bringing in another factor here ... Engine being too cold ! So I do wide open breakins where I have the head wrapped with a competition heater... I have the mixture so rich fuel is often pumping out the front bearing, but because I have the heater on and active the engine stays hot even with a crazy rich tune... I have done this for hundreds of engine and never had any issues with front bearings blowing their seals, which is more or less what we are debating.. Some of these guys seem to think the extra oil and fuel somehow will cause mechanical damage to the bearing itself. |

You starting to get mad bro? LOL! It's just a debate about if a overly rich lsn kills a front bearing and if it blow out is rubber seal. I din't say I know you,I just know what you type...I dont know how else to tell you do what ever you believe works. LOL!!!

I just saw this tggread abbd had to post my paloma ltd experience. The paloma limited edition was the first engine I had neal mod for me and it's been a monster,reliable,easy peasy tuning,and idles like an absolute dream.stock it was a ripper but modified is a whole nother level oinkif awsomeness!!tns mod paloma ltd is absolutely where it at.all i can say is try one. I just recently got it pinched and put tko ceramics and new rod in and I swear its even better than before.8mm restrictor,9886/41001,bones brew 30/8,c6 plug and never look back.9886/41001 basically works freakin awsome on every engine neal has done for me.

This is a recent Paloma I did for another member. It was not 100% completed when pictures were taken. I also modified an Elite 5 for the same member. I will post pictures of the Elite 5 later (in the Elite 5 thread). The Paloma is a fantastic engine for the money.
I also attached two pictures of an XZB-II I did last summer. It was originally my personal engine (Sold it to a racer that lives in the New Jersey / Pennsylvania area). This engine was ridiculously fast and pulled forever. There is other work done to it (not pictured). Its hard for me to post pictures of completely modified engines (showing all work performed). Reason being is that people try to duplicate it on other engines and they end ruining them. Each engine is different and requires different modifications. Even having multiple of the same engine does not mean they will be exactly the same. Each and every engine is different due to mass production. |
What kind of fuel milage are you guys getting out of your paloma Ltd with the #8 in and 9886,41001 combo it will be going in a 4.0 truggy and the 4.0 buggy as well.

i dont have an 8 restictor my 7.5 is bored to 9, i do have another 7.5 as well as 7,6.5,6.0,5.6. i could do some testing when my mp9 gets here today, just add 30 seconds for that losi runtime magic lol

So i see were you guys are talking about power my question is are any of you guys getting ten main run times if so how and the other problem is if i barely touch the throttle my motor will idol high for a few seconds then drop. Why is this. I run the 6.5 restrictor power is fine and i got2 gallons on it with metal pinch still at the top

2. LSN (low speed needle) is a bit lean. I have modified several of these and the racers that are running them (on race tune) with 9853 & 9901 pipes are getting 10.5-11min. I raced with a Paloma (modded) when it first came available. I paired it with a 9901/ 41020 and got 12min on race tune. Track was semi tight with high traction. |

Yeah the 9901/41021 is big time holding the engine back.... 9901 is a 3 chamber muffler pipe primarily designed to reduce noise to cater to some senseless and arbitrary European rules some stupid fools came up with about 10 years ago... the 41021 manifold doesn't help much either.... a swap to a 9853 or 9886 on a 41001 will wake that beast right up...especially if you add a bigger carb insert like a 8 mm
edit....even adding a 41001 to your 9901 will make a big difference...for some reason the 41021/9901 combo has terrible top end and just adding the 41001 will give the engine a huge boost I'm shopping Rex USA right now and I see these headers have that same shape as the 41001 but different lengths of longer. I'm wondering about experimenting with these other headers to keep the pipe out there where I don't have to cut a bigger notch for the exhaust in the body. |
