Here are some settings that ran well with a 5.4 Venturi on 30/8 fuel with a p3 plug. The settings are turns out from fully closed. (Note always hold the carb open when turning the LSN all the way in, turn them slowly and with care so you don't damage the o-rings.

* * Hsn less than 1h from 2 turns
* * LSN *3 turns +1h

Thanks a lot.
I'm already at 1.8L mark, running it very rich at the track, without any blinky trigger, and during 80F day i have 230-235F at the plug, my HSN is about 1.4-1.5mm, i'm using 25/11 Byron fuel. Maybe 230F sounds too hot, but i have long on-throttle periods due to track config and not so fast speed to create enough air flow to cool it down. So, i have plenty smoke, very rich sound and other symptoms of very rich tune, so don't think its a problem.
And, despite running it at rich side, i can already compare it with my Picco mil.
1) Smooth. Yes, many people say that Piccos are ebuggy-like mills, but this thing is smoother. I am able to have right amount of torque goin to wheels
2) Its very stable. I have completely ballpark idle gap/lsn tune, and it idles as much as i want. I haven't tried to pick race tune yet, so can't say about idle at that state, but gaining idle on Picco was a challenge (mainly because it was my 1st engine)
3) Sound. Yeah, it sounds mean! Seems that Youtube videos can't keep all audio part, so its better to hear it by yourself (or believe me=)) Can't even imagine how it screams with a war face.. err, race tune

About mech pinch: i have a bit of it at hot state, and solid amount after cooling down. I'd tried Tessman break-in method during first 10 tanks (with only difference - 1st tank on box idling and a bit throttling with working heater on to have ~200F), gonna have some slow rich tanks on a track till it drops nuts, guess it gonna happen during next 1L.

For some reason this engine takes longer to loose the mechanical pinch than previous OS engines. I found it go away around 2 gallons. Just remember to preheat on cold starts.

Disaster, going for the usual 10 min fuel stop ... but than ran out fuel..

Combination of events ... started stop watch late, then my son tagged somebody so waited ... as he went past the pits it was already just over 10 mins ....

he also said he was gunning it to back to the lead

However, he had to stop due to a Li-Lon Bat going low voltage and LIPO switch shutting the power off ..

Video to follow ...

I have yet to make the coveted 10 min pit stop with this engine...

Frank, I think it stopped almost at 11 minutes, but until the video is posted I don't know for sure ... I was making him do an extra lap....

why is everyone so obsessed with getting 10mins out of a tank. i get 8 & 1/2 out of both my engines (in sig) and am quite happy with that.

nice bit of cutting the track at the back jump on the first lap by the red buggy.

Yep, he did, but more due to the jump and not deliberate, that's the one with the B2101... but note after tagging another buggy he waited, despite the other car crashing again, he waited twice, but by 10.23 he is first again.

But the topic here, is more about fuel and run time.

10 minutes cuts a pit stop in 20 and 30 minute mains.

Btw, is there any special tweaks/features tuning OS engines? Like Piccos want to run leaner top/richier bottom, Novas vise versa. Of course i alway tune hsn first with pre-set idle at 0.5-0.6, but wondering about any additional moments.

In my view no, but of course the carb has a metering slot, which helps midway.

Always make sure it is up to temp

As an aside, I would always check the carb opens no more than the venturi installed

Questions?? 40% nitro

Hi all, I recently moved from Nova to Os, and decided to go for the b2101 I also bought a box of byrons 40% nitro so I have a few question

-Do I have to shim the head?
-I normally use 97t plugs on novas but I heard they're too hot for that nitro percentage so do I have to go for the P5 or the RP8?
-Do you recommend to make the break in using the 40% nitro?

Any help is really appreciated
