The theory behind buying a super cheap engine is that more than likely you are going to prematurely ruin it anyway either from your tune being off or improper break in. It's best to learn on a $100 engine as opposed to a $200-$300 engine. There are very few new guys who get more than a couple of gallons out of their first new engine due to inexperience.
If you have good support from your local veterans who will help you every step of the way than you can get what you want.

Do you have a starter box?
Do you have any pipes?
What is your budget?

The B2 is a cheap well made engine but it works best with an $80 pipe and you must have a starter box.
I would recommend the Hyper .21 engine. It comes as pull start and bump start and work good with a $35 ofna or dynamite 086 pipe. Last time I looked the engine was $120 but I will say that a pull start engine will open you up to a whole other set of issues and can be a royal PITA.

(which i think was its best feature) the fuel economy was atrocious though! i wish i would of got a werks in the first place over the nvision. so far the b2 has never got over 230 degrees. cooler running motors last longer in my book. The head size on the werks motors are considerably larger than the nvision as well
I'm still kinda new myself. came from nitro planes to off-road back in November, so I'm no pro tuner. I'd go with the b2. it's not much more than a " cheap" one and its super easy to tune.

+1. I had a Hyper 7 that I got for my young lad to drive. Engine is not the most powerfull but had more that enough for a club racer who was learning to drive and tune. Easy to tune with a huge tunning window and tough as an old boot. Seen them on some online stores for around $80.

Novarossi makes the best engines. Most engines are nova based. Back on point...i would go with the p5 nova. Amazing price and excellent power. Btw Houston's engine service is top notch. I would also recommend purchasing monty.'s bench break in service. He's also very helpful with tuning your engine. Can't get that from tower or Amain.

Well what happended to the engine it came with? I most likely died quickly. Every hyper engine I've worked on over the years was terrible. I say go ahead and get a race motor if you plan on racing. You will need a starter box but it will last a long time. For your next buggy and engine too. You may need a different engine mount that is lower. but you can use the pipe and header. Nota big deal for starting out in racing.

You should check with your race Director first. I can only assume you are new to racing and will be running in the novice class? Most tracks will allow any vehicle and any engine in the novice class. The only thing you can't do is modify your fuel capacity to get extended run times over the field. Good luck with whatever you decide and most of all have fun. It takes awhile until you learn everything there is to know and do it all properly. Unfortunately that still won't make you fast.
