I must say I have never seen a case crack in 1/2 like that before. I would contact the mfg and see what they say.

That is a bad way to flame out. For me it is when a marshal goes to grab my car and grabs it by the flywheel. Doh!!
|
Sorry about your luck..
|
:weird: Wow! That is about all there is to say... I have never seen anything like that. That's an expense way to go out.
|
Same as my friend engine few years ago,his not racing yet, doing final break in at road side beside track before race, then hit by cross by motorcycle, the car went under the motorcycle and hitting the engine head, crack it just like that.everyone feel sorry for that poor guy,the motorcycle guy just act like nothing happen.he borrow an engine from a friend for that race.
Then the importer of that brand engine guy pass him a used engine case. |
Wow that is just BRUTAL! I never would have thought that would be possible. Makes for a very impressive pic though.
I think if that happened to me with a brand new engine, I would almost cry. And that's coming from a 30-year-old married man. Our toys ain't cheap! |
The strange thing about this crash was that it was not at full speed. I was just 3 to 4 feet onto the straight going maybe going around 15 mph or less. The flying buggy was jumping a double that is not a full speed jump but half speed and he didn't overshoot but just hit it at an angle to land onto the straight. I would think for this to happen both buggies would need to be at full speed or at least the flying 1/8 scale to be a truggy. Either way when it hit you could here everyone go OOOOHHHH! and when I hit the throttle to keep going nothing happened. I couldn't see the damage until after coming down from the stand and was like
Is there a difference between my Taiwanese case and an Italian or Japanese one? Would this happen to a Nova, OS, or Werks? |
Last year while my buddy and I were putting in some laps on our practice track he hit a odd hole right befor a full speed double. I was just landing tabletop jump ad 3/4 speed in the oncoming lane. His buggy smashed right ontop of my motor also. Made a Huge slap, both of us landed wheels down but we hessitated to drive them in fear of the worst. But to my luck it was just the bend fin seen below. I think the angle was just right for it not to snap like yours. Thats just terrible luck.

I have never seen it happen in 1/8 offroad before, but I have seen it happen in nitro onroad

:eek::eek:
At least you know your engine mount is strong and was tightened down good.... |

Pinch it. You'll be alright.

It'll be good...
They are just like O.S. motors, so you should be able to rebuild them forever. Me and my dad have a 45 gallon speed that's just fine. You should just go buy another one, but keep the one you have as parts so you can rebuild the new one when it wears out. Good luck ;)

I am not sure if anyone has had this happen before but I wanted to share what happened Saturday while I was warming up before the start of the 2nd qualifier. I was just starting to go down the straight when another buggy hit a double wrong hitting my cooling head and cracked my crank case in 2. It was a brand new motor with only 1 race on it.
