Depending on the surface most of the guys like the (2) .9 and (2) .95
This works really good on loose to medium surface tracks.

i run a hard pack clay track with slight dust. I did try it out on the road and i got to say i love it was doing really good till the cop came after one tank of gas and said a person called and said it to loud. I cant wait to try it out at the track. what shoes work best for this type it a meduim track. Right now i have 12 grub screw in and the 2 .95 and 2 .1 spring in now.

i run 4 .95 ... all screws in aluminum, 8-16 screws in steel (just depends on how much traction, usually 12 or 16)

this is in truggy.

ok i got the traction part but how do you know when the clutch is slipping by not hearing it. This would be helpfull so i can judge my springs and shoes needed for my truggy which is a hot body d8t. im used to a 3 shoe and i alway use to run what the manfurator had in the manual. so some info would be nice. cause i see some guy like hard shoes and some meduim i run a .28 motor with 3.4 claimed hp in this thing.

i just dont like having different springs, i want all to hit at once. when i tried 2 .95 and 2 1.0, it had a gradual acceleration to me and slipping due to hitting at different times. some like some dont. i also always run medium shoes, hard sliped to much for me, but they do last longer though. soft grabbed harder to me, i like them on high bite. all the same concepts you use with 3 shoe will work with 4 shoe, you just have more tuning.

when i run the .23 in my truggy (mbx6t, which is a lot lighter) i use 4 .95, 16 screws, medium shoes, steel flywheel. run the same setup with buggy.

the springs and screws, just play with and see what you like most. with screws, adjust 4 at a time and of course have them spaced evenly.

that is great information maxey.
try different setups and different weights.
keeping down tire spin helps control the vehicle out of the corners
and makes you faster and makes your tires last longer and you get better fuel milage.
softer clutches seem to be what most guys want.

yes. also the weights play a roll in it also, more screws=more gradual acceleration (puts power to ground), less screws=revs quicker, more tire spin.

When do you guys change the shoes? I know someone mentioned they change before the dot. How far into the dot can I go before having to replace?

Muggydude 03-27-2013 03:25 PM

Just slightly- once they wear to the dot replace them

G35Turbo 03-27-2013 03:53 PM

Thanks guess I'll be changing mine out.
