actually... pls dont mention your fuel manufacturer. I dont want to start another pissing contest. Please try another brand of fuel. I suggest this because I believe those deposits on your case are parafins- i.e. cheap wax lubricants. Your fuel should not be leaving reddish brown deposits on your case like that. The surfaces of the case ports are actually honed (super smooth), which makes it difficult for most anything to stick.

Again, please try another brand of fuel.

We need to get Speed demin onto our proprietary PURE Race Fuel. You can strip a motor after several gallons on this and the insides are like new. Just a nice clear oily glaze over everything. We have converted a lot of racers to this fuel from "name" brands, and they love the crisp performance and clean running. Just thougt I would get a plug in for the local NZ racers on here ;)

Think you can help him out? Maybe a quart (liter?) or something. Maybe make a video of it spewing out deposit mud when the PURE fuel cleans it out! haha

fuel

Cheers Runne next time i see Grizz1 i might just have to purchase a litre of fuel to see what it is like, the top of piston has quite a lot of build up on it but i think its best to leave it there and hopefully it will burn of.

Those are some pretty bad deposits. Glad to hear you are changing fuel. I would clean off those pieces with some denatured alcohol and a soft towel before putting them back together.

Wow, yeah that is pretty mucked up! Just a heads up, but you're prob going to need to change the tune once or twice as the new fuel cleans out the deposits. Also, have grizz1 check the play in your conrod... might be time to swap it out.

seems every other engine i rebuild for people look like yours, its usually byrons that does that.

Ruune 04-06-2011 10:31 AM

A lot of our team guys run byrons with great success, and dont get that kind of deposits... but this isnt a fuel thread.

Anyways, this is my prototype GXII after 3 gallons. For the record, this is using VP powermaster 30%. I've literally abused this thing post break-in. This motor has been run fat, VERY lean (both on accident due to a pressure line split, and on purpose). I've run it anywhere between 160 and 290 degrees fahrenheit. I believe I had it over 300 on one occasion, but didnt temp it until it had a few mins to cool.

Anyways, the proof is in the pudding:

Ruune 04-06-2011 11:46 AM

thanks. BTW I was too lazy to pull the crank out. FWIW, I'm trying to see how long the GO clutch shoes last. So far 2 gallons.

bigmatt 04-06-2011 11:47 AM

very impressive Trey. Your just teasing the crap out of us aren't you!
