You will like the 2013 on the new GXII, it really makes the motor bark, and the power is sweeeet right through the range. Wicked bottom end pull too
Haven't really done any fuel milage testing yet. Having too much fun just running fuel through the GXII and hooning it
. Off the top of my head the run times seem pretty good.
We ran some laps with the GXII in truggy this weekend. Nasty power down low (just like the GX-5R), but the best part was the extended top end it has over the GX-5R !!
If you read my comparison on the other thread - it seems to me that the GXII is very much like the MG66, but with much more bottom end. Whether this increased bottom end will reflect on the economy side of things, we will have to wait and see. Initial indications all round is that the GXII is a little ripper. Power to burn and very drivable. You boys will be stoked when you get your hands on one - promise !!

So are these engines you guys are talking about available? I just purchased a gx5r and noticed some.... Ehhh things about it when my buddy and I took it apart toque sure everything is straight before we started the break in process.
I had heard something's a few years ago about these motors being used I the dirt oval late model scene that were kinda ehhhh... But for the price I had to try it!
The break in today went pretty well and the motor is nice and smooth.. Took it apart today to recheck and noticed a shaving or 2 on the sleeve itself again. We also found some last night on the tear down before breaking it in.
I hope this doesn't come off as a negative post bit just expressing my concerns. My previous engine was a nova +4c tuned and it's a beast still to this day after 12 gallons and a rod change at 8!
Thanks guys

depends on which motor you are talking about...the GXII 5RHO is what he was running in buggy and it is BRAND NEW and is still in pre production..so only the select few that have these motors can tell you what they are getting as far as fuel mileage and pipe of choice
but the GX5R he was running in truggy and those motors are awesome....in truggy you can get anywhere from 9-12 mins depending on track and conditions...and in buggy anywhere between 8-11 mins...depending on track conditions aswell....the GX5R really likes the Go EFRA 2072 pipe and the FEMCA 0801(from what alot of guys are saying)

Hi, is this new engine using the same rod and bearings, as previous gx engine?

anyway i sent it to trackstar services in cali. they took apart the engine and clean all the parts before break-in.
Jimmy told me that there was some "stuff" in the case but was a common thing and was nothing to worry about. He also said there was no case flashing and the bearings were seated properly. All in all he had nothing bad to say only good things and he had nothing to gain from doing so

Hmmm... I never took anypics of the engine when we broke it down. I'm going to run a few more tanks through it and tear it down again. I will then take pictures for you. I'm running it in the H.a.r.c. Series race this weekend so I'll be able to give input on the engine for you. I will say judging from yesterday with both Jason beam and I breaking it in we were both pretty happy with it's performance so far in the break in zone. I have eleven tanks on it as of now and going to put some more throughout it today!

The GXII-5R (new engine) will retail for around $240-$250 (price will depend on the dealer). I have one in my buggy now, and I still cant believe the powerband. I went from a GX-5R to a GX-7R, to a modded GX-5R, to a modded GX7R, and the stock GXII-5R feels like its a combination of all of them. Smooth idle, TONS of power at the bottom, but not overbearing. Power comes up and is pretty linear from bottom to mid. Right about where the GX-5R peaks, the GXII-5R keeps going. It peaks out somewhere between the GX-5R and the GX-7R.
Availability- Within the next couple of weeks. I spoke to Joana (handles the business end in Taiwan), and she said that Simon (Technical end and owner) is in China at a race. They are apparently testing the last changes to the crank. I know he's as anxious about getting these moving as we are- Everyone (including myself) is waiting for the GXII. I should hear back from him tomorrow night (or Thursday daytime in Taiwan).

the second gx5r that i recently purchased I decided to send the engine out for break in and to be sealed. i made that choice just b/c these engines take a bit longer for break-in and i am lazy at times.
anyway i sent it to trackstar services in cali. they took apart the engine and clean all the parts before break-in.
