Hi fellas, I just picked up a used Go GX5R and just want to know if its shimmed correctly for 30% Fuel. When I pull the Head Button, how many shims should it have or do I measure the total thickness of shims to 0.030? Also, the crankcase is the only part "used"..all the internals P/S/R and Crank have been replaced. I'm going to be breaking it in soon. Thanks!

hey bud...i am from san diego aswell....let me know what tracks you run at and i can personally give you any help you need....for 30% you want to run 1 alloy .3mm and 1 copper .1mm shim with a total of .4mm shims only...i personally like to run an additonal .1mm copper shim giving me .5mm of shims....which is how it should come stock....i have done lots of shim testing lately...and the stock shimming is just perfect for my 8ight 2.0 truggy...with a LONG low speed needle, 8mm restrictor, od 97t plug, 2072 pipe and S&W Trophy blend fuel
I'm gonna pull the head button sometime soon and will check what it has. I usually race at Barona every week. This saturday I'll be racing in the Grass Roots Series @ Thunder Alley.

Yea sounds good man, I'll check you guys out! I won't have the motor broke in by then... I'll be running a diff. motor for this weekend.

why not?....heat cycle....5 three min runs at 1/4 throttle in figure 8's...just easy roll ons..no blips (pre heat to 220F and let cool between each run) and the 3 five min runs the same way but roll on to 1/2 throttle and slowly go full throttle but never wide open for longer then a second or 2...once thats done...you can put a decent tune on it and run the practice sessions and by the qualies, she will be ready to GO

Update on the GXII!
I received some prototypes yesterday. Stayed up till 3am processing orders, packing orders, and then finally put my motor in my buggy.
Started breaking in. This batch has the production piston, rod, sleeve. Long story short, this has been the easiest (beginning) to a break in process Ive done with a go motor. The new, harder piston is machined to tighter tolerances and thus is not nearly as tight as even the latest GX engines. Seriously, I thought about tuning this bad boy now, but I'm going to take the time to do it properly. Going to do 2 quarts and pull it apart. I'll inspect, reassemble, and then run it ragged.
Also, after I get feedback from the team drivers, and confirm this is the P/R/S combination that they're using in the production run, I'm going to draft an "official USA" break in procedure, then post it here. I will also print up a number of "official" drop ins for the boxes.
