I was sponsored by Argus last year till April this year and the engines are great. I ran the B52 last year and it was a rocket and the R8 this year and it was fantastic, plenty of power all round and good fuel economy too. You guys that are getting them will love them. I was also running the tb1 pipe

I have a few guys signed on the team so far, we have a few more spots open. Send resume's to [email protected]

I am really liking the fit of the piston and sleeves, about the right fit and definately easier to break in. They are numbering the piston according to size to get the fit right.

Hey everyone,

well yesterday was my first outing with my D52. All I can say is paired with a TB-1 with a 7mm stinger this thing is a beast still with a semi fat race tune. ran several tanks during practice bringing the temps up slowly and when it came to my open race( because there were not enough buggies or truggies to separate the class.) At race time I qualified 2nd but when the flag dropped I pulled the trigger and went out front. ALTHOUGH I was making a conservative 7 min. pit stop in a 20 minute main I was feeling the motor. at the end of the race and 1/4 and hard running the motor temped at 255*F there was plenty of smoke and I knew it was still WAY fat on the bottom which actually helped because of the track conditions. I can see this motor only getting better as it "DROPS" and gets broke in.

Thanks Rex for the excellent motor and look forward to running this motor all year and extremely excited to get the R8 broke in.

First question what where you running it in truggy or buggy.

second what do you think you might be able to stretch the run times out too.

Third how smooth is the d52

fourth what plug and fuel % where you running.

Im gonna grab some of these up soon but i have about 3 more months to go for my season to even think about starting so i got some time left to do my thinking.

IF the r8 is like the lutz your gonna like it alot. i might go with an r8 to see how much it compare to the lutz. but i know i want to try the 23 out for sure. but for buggy i think the a52 might be nice and smooth.

The D52 was meant to be even more powerful than the A52 - ala an Alpha A852.. It was the A5 I believe that was meant to be a bit smoother..

Rob i was running my motor in a D8t truggy using 30% nitro with the Argus hot plug that was included with the motor. As far as getting longer run times that will come when the motor breaks in. Plus I can see these Argus motors being like there counterpart engines and the hotter they run the better the mileage gets. I know when I ran Alpha as long as I had my little puff of smoke and no bogging it was good to go. Occasionally I would check the temps an would not stress if the motor was at 290 even 300. I did this with several motors and know a few other drivers that were the same and the motors would last and last. Actually my brother has an 872 with 5 gallons on it and from the day it was broke in as long as the motor was running it would not dip below 220 but the hottest I have seen it was 305 and he is still using it today.
So the more you lean the motor keeping a happy balance between to and bottom and idle the run times will go up. Also driving style will effect your fuel mileage as well. Wheel spin will be a factor in fuel mileage and temps as well. As far as how the motor felt. I felt it was smooth with excellent bottom to top transition for me. Now what maybe good for me may not work for someone else but the motor I feel has usable power from bottom to top. I am going to try some different inserts on the carb and pipe when the motor fully breaks in an pass along my results not only to you guys but to Rex as well.

Well Rex Im glad to be able to represent Argus Engies as well as RW Mods. Just curious as to what pipes have you tested the R8 on, and what glow plugs do you recommend?

I have used these types of motors for years and I say you can not go wrong with a p3 or 4 glow plug or something equal to that. And either the 0801 or the tb-1 pipe will suit the R8 perfectly. I prefer the tb pipe because with the interchangeable stinger you can fine tune your motor for less bottom more top more top less bottom and so on and so on.

I am not a big fan of Os plugs but they will work fine, just dont overtighten them. The P3 is too hot and can mask a improperly tuned engine.
I have ran the 0801 pipe on many engines and it works well on anything. I have not ran the Tb-1 but it is a great pipe for the price. I am pretty sure Argus would not be selling it if it didnt work well with there engines.

Ain't the 2058 the anything/universal pie. All the motors I have ever ran it worked on them all.
