I'm currently running the A5 in my truggy and it screams! Tons of low end and a very smooth power band...plus it idles very nicely, something the a52 has problems with. I'll be breaking in a new D52 (our B52 model # in the US) shortly and will let you know how the 2 compare.

Finally got to race my A52 this past weekend.. All i have to say is SweeeeeeeeeeT.. This motor frigin ripps... Now for the weird.. I was runnig a jp3, motor ran well, all of a sudden sounded way fat and shut off, thought i lost a plug, changed it, same thing, to make a long story shorter, swapped engines, and had same prob, turns out pipe went bad.. changed pipe, everything fixed..Never seen a pipe go bad before... Here is the question.. I had to run a jp2 and OMG the buggy had stupid bottum end, can a pipe have that much effect on it?? the jp3 had plenty of bottum but was not as violent as the jp2, unless the jp3 was going bad and restricting... Ive run this same clutch setup before and never had this much snap on the bottum end( losi buggy stock springs green and gold with dynamite maxlife shoes) I know im not keeping the jp2, Im either going to a jp3 or 4, just wanted to get opinions/thoughts...

The A52 runs quite well with the JP-4.. Great run-time..
In the UK the A52 was/is sold as a combo with the JP-4.. I.e. it fits well to the engine.. I tried one briefly in my SC8 with the Argus, but it lacked a tad on top-end. To be fair though, the engine was still pretty early during break-in, so I need to test it again.. Took forever for the tank to finish, and it DID have a very nice, smooth, linear feel to the power... The 0801 is punchier - a bit more explosive.. So I can imagine some people might even actually prefer the JP-4... Here's a short vid of my Argus A52 with JP-4 in my SC8.. The engine probably only had a liter or so through it at this point - maybe two..: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np-nVJ_7xWQ |

The pipes do make that much difference. Any pipe will work with any engine...but it won't be optimal. That's why the guys distributing an engine give their recommendations. And it's also why most will distribute those recommended pipes. |
sounds awsome guys...
news is that ill have the A5 and B52 in my hand early next month to test with my EFRA 2072 sooo looking forward to that... will post pics and mabe even video snips.. although Argus had a short run / wasnt available locally for long.. due to mistakes by importer & disloyalty by driver who was given every oppertunity... other than that i hope these babies hit the aussie market soon as they have alot of potential... with the right people behind Argus... |
Its a shame Aaron Stringer jumped ship, he had some pretty good results with the A52:tire:

ArgusNZ: Its a shame Aaron Stringer jumped ship, he had some pretty good results with the A52 keen to run these 2 in so i can show case them at a few races and gauge reactions and create interest from racers n shop owners... great engines , very competitive pricing... etc... all good from what i see or read... |

Lance I have a question on the A52s I bought from you. I have them installed in my buggies and on my racer I have the modded motor. I was doing some center diff maintenance and when I looked at my motor the front area was wet. Now I havent ran the modded motor but 3-4 tanks could the front bearing go bad that soon?

Thanks, Lance |
The two Argus A52 I ran last season both had that happen during break in and early fat running. Like Lance said with Race Tune I had no issues with the stock bearings. I actually felt like they are pretty good bearings for being stock.

yes, they are actually very good. Most of the time they last the life of the engine which has been Approx 8 gallons or so.

Thanks, Lance Long story short after I replaced the bearings with high quality bearings I have no more problems. I have about 1 gallon though and the engine is fantastic. In fact, it gets better every time in how it idles and the amount of power it produces. I'm sold on this brand. |
