On June 25th, Austin Elliott gets the 3rd spot, and Chris Earhart takes the win in sportsman buggy with his Argus powered Losi. This was at JD's Extreme RC Raceway in Mockville, NC. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...kins/016-1.jpg It was a Father/Son team of Austin Elliott and Don Elliott. Don taking the 2nd place spot in Expert buggy!! Both driving Argus powered ZCar Z10XB buggies. Great day for Argus Engines. |
Ran my new argus engines at the track yesterday and I am pleased and impressed to say the least. Once I got the clutch right these were already money. Can't wait till I get them on race fuel.
Thanks again these babies rock! |
The Argus ran well on Saturday for me in Expert Buggy. Qualified 5th and finished there at our local track. Engine ran well and was fast. Had worked myself into 3rd but had a couple issues that dropped me back to 5th. Also just installed a new 0801 pipe and loved it. Also the black finish is killer.
Right at 2 gallons on my Argus and really enjoying the engine this racing season. |
Had a great weekend running the Argus this weekend.
Before this weekend I had done 2 tanks idling on the box. Then went to the track for a few slower tanks. Even when very rich I could clear all the doubles and not struggle with anything (except the very long straight which I was lifting off on). Then I went to Round 5 of the BRCA Nationals with it still fairly rich. We had geared it up to run it in the buggy after what we had read. Running the 3033 pipe. This thing rips! Even in the practice session when it was still rich, I was able to do a good time and struggled with none of the sections. There was even a section called 'the hill' which was literally the side of a hill. This was very steep and people were talking about it being hard before the race. But the bottom end was immense on this engine! As we started to lean off the engine during qualifying we were calculating that we would be able to do about 11:30/12 minutes on a tank! We thought this was wrong, but we kept getting the same results each time. I am extremely happy with the engine, although I need to get used to the power as it is a handful (my times were slower once leaned off). This weekend I am running it in the EFRA Racing in Switzerland, so will see how it goes. I am really looking forward to running it again, but may need to limit how much the carb opens to manage the power. Scott |
Hey guys was just wonder what would be a good staring point setting for the carby on one of these motors???? I've gotten a second one from a friend and the carb has been messed around with so just want to get it factory and work it in from there... Thanks

Im sure you know there a lot of variables on the tune so what my engines are set at and your will be a bit different, but about 1/2 turn in on the top and 1 turn in on bottom are where mine are at with werks 30% , werks #5 plug, SH 3033 pipe.
Hope this helps, Lance, RcRenew |

Cool, Factory settings are 1/2 turn out from flush on HSN and 1/2 turn in on the low speed needle.

the main point with these carbs is they have the long lsn in them which tune differently to other brands. As mentioned above everyone's settings will vary but mine are hsn flush and lsn 2 turns in. Very similar to the go engines i used to run where the hsn would never be more than 1/2 turn max in from flush and 1 1/2 to 2 on lsn.

Does anyone have a spare Argus cooling head? Lost a fin on mine in a pretty wicked crash.
If so, PM me here or email me at [email protected] |
