Yep! The carb cleaner/WD40 bath after the warm soap water prevent the rust. And then, of course, the compressed air.

The toothpaste trick is really something...

wd40 is fine, as long as you relube bearings and bushing well after useing, as for soap and water, not real sure i would try that.

wd40 is good to clean every thing out just dont flood the whole engine with it I use a bit and use a clean rag to wipe it out some compressed air and relube with after run or dexron automatic transmission fluid its very good it prevents rust and lubes at the same time
goodluck

The only steel parts in an engine are the bearings and the crank.

As long as you re-lube the bearings and crank, there is no chance of them rusting from using water. Aluminum doesn't rust in the presence of water, nor does chrome or brass.

Thank you.

People on here are paranoid.

Did you ever wash something metal with water? Did it end up rusting? Why not? Cause you dried it... Obviously the engine internals are a bit more fragile, but really, some compressed air after some denatured alcohol/carb cleaner/WD40 and relubing before installing will not cause rest. Those things prevent it from happening.

Well got everything cleaned up. And now my truck is running like a top. But it wasn't the one way bearing. On the side opposite the carb there are two gears. On has a spring tentioner on it, I tightened the nut and spring now she turns over great.

wd-40 is ok BUT IT WILL eat away at orings!...it pretty much dries them out and makes them crack!...so dont let your orings touch wd-40

The only thing inferno, is when I prime I have to open the throttle and pull the high pressure line and blow into it while the carb is all the way open. What could be making this happen?

sounds like your high speed needle setting may be set to lean or low end needle is set to lean, set back to factory settings and start from there, needle settings are...
high speed.....4turns out from closed
low speed....flush
idle.......0.70-1mm.................also have you tried putting your finger over exaust tip for a few seconds while trying to start?

do yourself a favor ditch the ez start and go PS and Bumpstart..with a good tune the pullstart will fire the engine in a couple pulls.. the ez start motor goes bad quick and is more of a headache..also clean your one way bearing that will cause issues 2
