IMO you neeed the Werks specific spring's. If not your header isn't as Snug as it could be. The werks are a couple coils smaller and IMO regular spring's wont fit worth a bean and end up flopping all over the place not holding any tension.

I've had no problems cutting springs down to size. It takes some patience and 2 needle nose pliers but it does work. I use the ones from answer Rc

Ya know, the only complaint I have with Werks is that they use the super short exhaust manifold springs and they are $11 for 5 springs.

Huh? I run the spring all the way around the front of block. It's so tight i can barely hook it. I believe you misunderstood. It doesn't budge.

hambone 04-23-2011 04:45 PM

Well i'm assuming he was talking manifold to block. I'm guessing after just waking up you are referring to the manifold to pipe springs. Yes those need shortys.

.. I am interested in 3 modified B6's or B5's; what is the ETA from time of order to delivery. The website listed them as out of stock.

Thanks.

Neal, In what instances does tuning contribute to an engine flaming out? By the way this past weekend my b6 2058 ran like a champ.

In what instances does tuning NOT contribute to an engine flaming out? That would be a better question with a shorter answer.

Tuning contributes to everything related to an engine's performance.;)

I'm sure Neal will have a more in-depth answer for you.

That can be a endless list of reasons......too rich, too lean, stale fuel, stale plug, bad clutch bearing, flywheel touching down, idle gap too small, glowplug too cold... Engine hitting chassis off a jump, chassis flex off a jump binding the mesh.... literally the list can be endless......bad fuel tank, damaged fuel line, debris in fuel passage..dirt in engine.. plugged air filter...etc. etc...

How much fuel have you run through it? My Clocked B5 never once flamed out on me and then at one race right about the 4-5 gallon mark it flamed 6 times in 2 heats. I had to run my back up engine for the race but I sent my B5 off for a pinch and some new bearings and now it's like better than new and no more flame outs.
