Anybody pick up that Legend 28 at $109? Tempting deal....

Does anybody happen to know if/how a Losi Spinstart can mount to the 28-8? I assume I'd want the rotostart version, then hopefully the Spinstart backplate would just fit on top.. I also wonder what motor mounts it would fit on.. I'd be looking to put it in an AE RC8T and SC8, an Ofna DM-1, and an LST2.. Possibly even a Tamiya TRF801XT...

I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these deals at ND.. It's between the Legend 25, the Legend 28, and the 28-8. The 28-8 I assume is the same as the 528XR. I had one of those back in the day, and it was a PIA to tune. That was in the relatively early days of nitro for me though. But even back then experienced people admitted that the RB 928 for ex. was a PIA to tune. So I'm not sure how much is objective, and how much subjective..

Anyhow, in theory anyway is there any difference in the way these three engines should tune? Is the carb on the 28-8 likely to be exactly the same as on the 528XR from 7-8 years ago? Thanks..

I'd also like to know if I'd be able to get a Losi Spinstart backplate on the 28-8, but realize here in the mostly racing section nobody will know that.. Although I realize bumpstart is better, it would be nice to have a Spinstart on whatever engine I get for running it in my DM-1, as I only have two startboxes, and the DM-1 has to share duty with my buggy, which is a (pretty big actually..) hassle...

Hey Guys. A couple questions.
-Does anyone have paperwork/instructions/manual for an old P5? I have a really nice condition P5 from about 8 years ago, and I would like to know factory needle settings, replacement part #'s, etc. I couldn't find anything on Novas site or online.
-What is the difference between the NovaRossi Product lines? Nova, Rex, Top?
Thanks in advance for the input.

It should be pretty close to the same thing as a p5xlt. I think the only thing they really updated was the front bearing from a 17004 to a 17011. Same dimensions, just has two seals in the front instead of one.

Needle settings are ballpark, but the hsn is usually around flush and the lsn usually somewhere from 4.25-5 turns out.

Rex and Top engines are mostly built from left over parts from discontinued Novarossi models.

some other pipe combo as well.
6mm insert, Byrons worlds 30/8, dynamite mid pipe with 41001 manifold, Mugen clutch with 1 mm springs and the legend 4 does ten plus minutes. I adjust my throttle dual rate down til I notice a decline in performance and tweak it from there.
I want to try a 7mm insert to get more power and see how much run time is reduced.

What did you like about the Elite 8 in truggy? I am looking at the same choice....truggy. What pipe combo did you run on your truck?

First thing I liked was the price
It has enough bottom end to easily clear the few jumps we have, and it has a lot of top end. I'm more of a smooth rolling onto the throttle, as opposed to "point and shoot", type of driver. So I don't really like an engine that has too much bottom end. The Elite 8 fits me perfectly.

When I got the motor I couldn't afford buying another pipe too, so I decided to try my existing pipes. I ended up using the GO 2072 pipe (which is more of an all round maybe leaning a bit towards top end style pipe) with the 41029 header. I tried the 2096 too, but it just made the motor feel a bit tame. I'm planning on getting a 9886 to see what it does as well.

It's really great that I can take a break from the hobby read a few post and get caught up to speed on new products and information. My question is for the engine modders. I am getting back into racing which Novarossi engine and pipe combo would you recommend for buggy, while these engines are on sale.. Thanks

I would say the majority of the tracks I race on would be Med to Large size tracks.

I live in Southern California so we have a fair share of nice tracks to run on here.

I ended up getting the Legend 4 Team Edition with ceramic bearings. Hopefully the small mods Novarossi does to the Team version doesnt effect the runtime. They actually claim the mods will help runtime but I wont know till its on the track. lol

For racing 9901 or 2096 with the 021 header will work on most of the Nova engines. 9901 has a little more low end grunt, while the 2096 favors the top end a little more.
