Maybe they get better mileage or have a smoother powerband or some other advantage I dont have, but I havent had any walk on me on the straight or blow me away in the infield. Ive always been curious to own a modded engine just havent seen any that made me say holy sh*t. I cant justify who modded the engines I was up against I just overheard a few conversations about internal engine work and happen to catch them on the track.

I can definitely relate to what you are saying....Back about 6 years ago there was a popular modded engine that was being sold in the Hobby stores....All the hype and all the talk was how crazy fast this engine was........Yet when we actually got to run one there was no real noticeable difference over stock......You could drive the stock engine back to back with the mod engine and you couldn't tell the two apart if your life depended on it.... Personally I found that absurd, as in any other motorsports if someone sent a engine to be "worked over" and it came back to them no faster then stock they would be angry and want their money back...Yet for some reason in RC some guys were perfectly happy to pay good money for these phantom engine mods to be done that really didn't do anything towards making the engine faster....

Anyways what we do here is quite a bit different from what the traditional engine modders were doing in the past....My engines are so dramatically different then stock that you can tell them apart from the stock version blindfolded.... You don't have to drive it, you don't even have to see it, all you have to do is hear it...The modified versions sound radically different then the stock versions, they are much louder with a much higher exhaust pitch.....Now of course not only do they sound radically different, they also perform radically different....

I have no doubt your stock Bonito seemed that same as someone Else's mod Bonito, however I can assure you my Clocked Bonito is much faster and much more powerful then a stock Bonito............ PM me and maybe we can arrange a demo one day so you could see for yourself...

Anyways there is modified engines, then there is Clocked engines..........

There's absolutely no WAY you could compare a stock version of a particular engine to a Clockworks modified version. As Neil said, the sound alone is unique, then there's the power

you "absolutely" are right about that...

The ONLY person I have read on stock engine threads doing that is niel himself.......

I agree with you though its quite absurd...

Sadly not true, there is an entire industry of aftermarket 1:1 parts based on "i spent money therefor it FEELS faster". I hear it all the time when people are quoting horsepower numbers of their sports cars..... Well it was 250hp stock, i added a K&N filter which ads 10% and a flowmaster exhaust which adds 20% and part X which ads Z% and fuel additives for Y%, SO I HAVE A 600HP MOTOR!

Really....is that why you're still running 15 second quarter miles...

R/C and 1:1 are the same, you can shut-yo-trap about how much horsepower and torque your motor/pipe combo has unless you've put it on a good dyno. That's why I like hearing about Clocked mills (and any others that have output measured), I know they hit the dyno. Everything else is subjective.

Im not doubting your engines for sure, Ive already seen numerous videos on clocked engines, and your absolutely right, they do sound a whole lot different...especially rpm wise. The local track we go to revelation raceway here in california, i know there are guys who have modded engines, most of them being "chris nunez" or fusion engines. I cant say ive heard or seen anything clockwork, but then again im only there once a week for practice. If you know anybody that you do engines for that runs at this track let me know, Itd be cool to check it out sometime.

my family has been involved in motorsport racing for 3 generations ..I grew up in a family where horsepower is a religion..We have built/raced boats, snowmobiles, bikes, tractor pulls, jet bikes and even lawnmowers....For us making engines faster is what we are born into, to do anything different would be sacrilegious ....I grew up immersed in a high performance environment as my dad owned a race shop that built race cars and engines, and over the years I have developed a touch for making 2 strokes sing...

Anyways the haters can hate all they want, but I am good at what I do and I take phenomenal care of of my customers....As I say there are modified engines, then there are Clocked engines....

I run a clocked +4 and never told anyone what it was. After the first run a few people came and asked about what I was running haha. Tim is also letting people pilot his ride with a clocked bonito or he'll bring out his truggy with a clocked ninja. My favorite so far is the clocked ninja. You can drive my +4 and come up to a conclusion on your own. I'll be there racing this sat for the winternatiomals

Is it possible to put a DLC coating on a Novarossi crank ? And if so dose anyone know where to get one done ? Can Clockworks do it at all ? Like on the O.S and Ninja engines have that black DLC coating on them ? They just dont wear with it and its something that has always bugged me about Nova engines not having it.

Cheers.

I have not found a suitable vendor to have that done yet....
