Does anyone have the stock Carb settings for the 528?

just set a 0.5 mm idle gap and put the needles to flush...fire the engine up and then tune accordingly...generally speaking putting the needles at flush will get you running.....

Not with the old carbs

Old carbs 3.75 to 4 turns out from closed on lsn and hsn got you pretty close

Set idle at around .7mm

The new ones flush/flush is close

Thanks alot Gavin28 I appreciate you taking the time to look that info up. This is definately an older carb. I will try these settings, if I can get it running I can definately get it tuned pretty close. Thanks for the input guys. It was a Big Help.

Which direction should the arrow on the head button point? I just pulled the plug out of my N21R. It still light but has something burned on it and the threads look burned. Think it was running lean?

Bonito mileage

Im running a bonito in my buggy, 42021 header,w/ 9901 and Im curious to hear some of the mileage claims on here. My engine has a tiny bit more than a gallon on in not including the 1000cc prop break in. Im running 14t bell and track conditions are a medium/loose environment. Sunday I managed to pull a max of 10:07 secs. And thats from the fill up and drop in pit, till it started boggin and died on the track. Engine was running 240-250 according to the exergen. And it was noticeably fat on the bottom end. Tons of smoke. Now Im not sure if these run times are consistant but Im inquiring if at least 9-10 mins can be consistant on a race tune with this mill. Any experience with similiar conditions would be a great help! Thanks in advance.

My Bonito, like all my Nova's, like to run between 265-280* F once they are fully broken in. At this point I can easily squeeze 10 minute pit stops during a race.

2 gallons seems to be the magic mark for Nova's for them to be ready for a full blown race tune.

Are you running buggy or truggy? Im still debating whether or not to race it. Because honestly the bonito is tons of fun in a buggy by far, but it seems to lack the consistancy to be competitive in a buggy at least. With a bran new clutch and flywheel, new tires mounted, and decent traction, it still manages to obtain way too much wheel spin, thus resulting in slower lap times essentially. It also doesnt help that Im not the smoothest going into the throttle either. Maybe Ill just give it a shot. Im more concerned with the mileage during race than anything. Id be happy with 9 mins consistant but If I can squeeze 10+ thatd be awesome.

I run a Bonito in my Truggy with that pipe and header. With a 7mm restrictor I get 12 min at Rev. In my Buggy with a BTT Plus 4 and a 6.5 mm restrictor I get 11 min and I do 10 min stops. I also run a heavier flywheel on bigger tracks and that helps mileage. Both my motors come off at 265 to 280.

My Bonito is a dedicated truggy engine, so take that into consideration with my run time claims. Might actually get better run time in buggy because I won't need a heavy trigger finger to fly around the track:ha:

Cool Im still running the 6.5mm on mine. It hasnt seen a race tune on it yet either it only has a little more than a gallon but come this saturday it will see its first. If i can pull 10 min stops, an know I have at least an 11 min window ill be happy wit that. I know I tried the 2096 pipe and my mileage went out the window. Perhaps it was still fat but definently a noticeable mileage decrease.

I see you have clockwork in your signature, is your bonito modded in any way?

Yep I only run CRE engines. The Bonito is simply amazing. But don't take my word, just spend some time on the Clocked thread and read the testimony s, watch the videos and then pull the trigger on your next engine purchase;)
