21-4C wrist pin clip replacement

How often are the two little circlips should be replaced?, I racer at my local track told me they should be replaced every 3 gals, is this a true statement?.
Also, are these supposed to be installed in a specific position?

Thanks in advance, jb

I think you mean the c clips that install inside the piston. No need to replace them unless you remove them to change a rod or something. Otherwise they last forever.

My carb is stuck, it won't budge. How would I remove it?

Thanks

Sounds like your clamps are still stuck in there?
Unscrew the screw a little. Tap the screw with the screwdriver, to pop out the one clamp. Then use something practical, like a screwdriver, to tap on the other clamp, and pop that out. After that your carb will come out.
Next time don't tighten so hard :D

Many times they are THAT tight from the factory. I've opened brand new engines, removed the carb clamp, and screw completely...and still had to use full size pliers to twist the carb to free it up.

Not like that everytime, but many times.

I have not had a Nova ike that...but have seen some other brads exactly like that...nasty tight in the block..amazing the factory would even have assembled them that way

first off this should be discussed in a clutch forum but

did you use a new clutch bell?
did you scuff the clutch bell before installing ?
did you clean the grease out of the bearings ?
did you break in the clutch by giving it copious amounts of throttle then putting a load on it by forcing it to the ground ?
is your flywheel nut tight and not slipping?

go through that checklist then get back to me

hope this helps

Monty, what do you use to scuff the clutch bell? Thx

Scotch brite pads work great
I'll usually buy the stuff at the hardware store, you can purchase all different abrasive grades, but scotch brite will work great
