Yeps, and not just bent. My Picco header just cracked like SH headers...

Anyone knows how the fast guys at the Euro setup their Nova engines? According to D Bloomfield http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=zBeyt3lx9t8 its a little tricky on the big fast track. I don't think they run 4,7 mm venturi... :)

Hey Tony,

I felt your pain a couple of weeks ago with my new P5 ... Here is what I did:

Used Competition Heater to get the engine up to about 180 degrees F, loosened the glow plug maybe about 1/4 turn, leaned the LSN about 1/2 turn.

Seems as if the "factory settings", on my P5 anyway, were to rich on the LSN to even "pop" ... leaning the LSN took care of the issue and with a little over a gallon on her now, starting with Comp. Heat. is not a problem.

Oh yeah, one more thing ... before I attempt to start a brand new engine, I always pull the glow plug and drop a few drops of light machine oil down the cylinder ( I happen to use Marvel Mystery Oil ) and also put a few drops of oil through the carburator, and exhaust port. Install engine and then spin her over for a couple of seconds. Install glow plug and commence breakin.

I will say this and maybe it is the reason I don't see these issues with the front bearings, even with the old styles from before the 17011 came out...

I run RB and that little trick Maximo is telling people to do on Novas is something RB has been doing for quite some time. All of my RB's have that port plugged off thats not some magic new fix, it's standard issue for some. ;)

Could you enlighten me on this a bit? What port is it that needs plugged?

I will also changed the bearing in my P5. Love the power and runtime of my first Nova's, but not impressed with the total loss of compression in under 3 gallons and looking for options....

Maximo is Neal Smith from clockworks engines. He did a youtube video. If you look on his forum it should be there.

anyone got a novarossi plus 4C crankcase for sale cheap??
Let me know.

I bought a used plus4 team, is that motor okay for truggy? I'm trying to figure out what to do

Had my engine man tear my almost 2 gal old Bonito down for rutine cleaning and inspection. He said everything looks fine. I have not had the intake hole seal done like many are doing but I've considered getting it done to be on the safe side. he said he did clean a little dirt out of it but he said thats normal. My question is it normal for a little dirt to be found in an engine with less then 2 gals on it? when I hear anything about dirt getting in an engine i get a little paranoid based on I've lost a few engines in the past due to sucking in dirt.

It's a great truck engine. Plenty of grunt and the top end starts to come alive around 4-5 gallons if engine is in good shape. I wouldn't hesitate to put it in truck.

Okay good! It's supposed to have about 2 1/2 gallons.
I'm sending it out to Houston's engine service today, to have him check it out and do his mods to it....Is silicone filing the crankshaft something I should have him do? It's going in an strr.

Which motors are you sealing the intake hole on and could someone give me a basic idea on how it's done? Thanks!

I ran the plus 4c in my truck box stock, no mods and loved it for 12 gallons. This engine is already pretty stout from factory. The mods to the p4 will mostly benefit runtime.

Yeah I did lean the lsn. Its still out from flush but I would say I turned it about a turn from what the factory set it at. Just finished tank 4, and I have it running on the box, still blipping the throttle about 1/4 throttle. Temp is about 195. Tried running it on the ground but the hsn is still way to rich. Gonna lean it out a little tomorrow and put it on the ground.

I have a question about the 21 4c. I used a peice of .6 piano wire to set the idle gap ( with venturi out) And if i try and tune the bottom without touching the idle gap i have to run the bottom so rich. about 3 turns out from flush. I am having no issues with closing the idle gap and leaning the bottom though. Good idle consistent and strong pull and even smoke stream. I looked at a factory novarossi drivers engine and he was about a 1/2 turn in from flush on the low speed. Basically i am just wondering why they say .6 idle gap when it seems that nobody is running that. Just a thought i was pondering in my head.
